摘要： The disclosed inventions include and apparatus and method for providing a universal Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) system configured with fly-by functionality. Such system may be configured to work in a plurality of modes including a walk-bay, drive-by, fixed network, and fly-by mode without hardware modifications. The system is configured to automatically calibrate so that the water meter transmitter operates at a minimum transmitted signal power level. Additional features include automatic hardware self-healing features where the system continues to function after certain hardware failures occur.

The device includes a processing device associated with a motion sensor and a signal generator and a power source. The signal generator is a light source. When the motion sensor generates data indicating the smart signal generator is slowing down, the processing device activates the signal generator which generates a motion signal. One embodiment of a motion signal is a red light.

摘要： The present invention relates to smart monitor for fire hydrants. One embodiment of the smart monitor comprises an electronic module associated with an operating nut and nut shaft. The electronic module may be an integral part of the fire hydrant design or it may be a part of an upgrade kit for upgrading existing fire hydrant installations. The electronic module may be configured to detect when a fire hydrant has been accessed and transmit a data signal to a remote location. The electronic module may comprise any number of environmental sensors configured to monitor the water flowing through a fire hydrant, the status of the fire hydrant, and the environment surrounding the fire hydrant. One such environmental sensor a radiation sensor configured to detect ionizing radiation.

When a hydrant is activated, the electronic module performs at least one of the following functions: stores activation time data, records sound data, records image data, turns on a signaling device, determines possible flow rate by counting the number of turns the operating nut has been turned, records elapsed time since hydrant activation, estimates consumption based on time data and possible flow rate data, transmits activation data to a remove receiver. Embodiments of the smart monitor also include a receiver configured for receiving a signal from remote transmitter for activating the signaling device.
