    • A resilient three-dimensional plastic web exhibiting reduced skin contact area and a fiber-like appearance and tactile impression. The web has a multiplicity of apertures therein, each being defined by a multiplicity of intersecting fiber-like elements interconnected to one another in the plane of a first surface of the web. Each of the fiber-like elements exhibits a substantially uniform generally upwardly concave-shaped cross-section along its length. The cross-section comprises a pair of convergent substantially linear portions which intersect one another at an end to form a vertex in the plane of the first surface of the web. This vertex reduces the skin contact area of the web providing a more comfortable feel for the user when the web is employed as a wearer contacting topsheet on an absorbent article. Furthermore, the web provides a substantially non-glossy visible surface as there is almost no substantially planar portion in its uppermost surface to reflect incident light to the viewer's eye. The pattern of intersecting vertices in the first surface of the web substantially eliminates pooling of fluid on the first surface of the web, since there is almost no substantially planar portion on which fluid may pool. This further contributes to the web's clean and dry appearance in use as well as more rapid fluid transport into the underlying absorbent element.

    • Device and a method are taught for specifically orienting and conveying products in a common direction of travel. The products are individually mounted on a plurality of identical, circular, product-carrying pucks. Each circular puck has a flat conveyor-contacting bottom surface and at least one circular peripheral surface contactable by corresponding circular peripheral surfaces of other pucks when located in a random surge thereof. Each puck is surmounted by a product support. Between its bottom surface and its product support, each puck has a peripheral slide surface parallel to the desired direction of travel of the oriented puck and at least one peripheral rotation-producing surface, the slide and rotation-producing surfaces being inset from the circular peripheral surface. A conveyor is provided having in association therewith at least one external contact surface to engage the rotation-producing surface of each puck and an alignment rail having an alignment edge to contact the slide surface of each puck. Each puck is conveyed past the at least one contact surface which cooperates with the at least one rotation-producing surface to cause rotation of the puck until the alignment edge of the alignment rail contacts the puck slide surface to stop rotation of the puck in the desired orientation and to maintain this orientation of the puck as it is conveyed to the next work station.

    • A pump dispenser for fluent products is disclosed as inluding a container for housing the fluent product, dispensing outlet means on the container, a follower piston closing the lower end of the container below the product, and means for varying the volume within such dispenser. The volume varying means comprises a plunger adapted to be reciprocated within the dispenser to alternately decrease the volume therewithin and, following such decrease, return to its original position thereby increasing the volume within the dispenser. The plunger further comprises a peripheral skirt having predetermined outer lateral dimensions at its lower distal end, and an enlarged attachment head on such lower distal end. The attachment head has predetermined outer lateral dimensions which are larger than the outer lateral dimensions of such lower distal end therey effectively forming a reentrant portion on the plunger above the enlarged head. A flexible thin-walled diaphragm adapted to isolate and seal the volume reducing means from the fluent product is connected about its outer periphery to the dispenser. The diaphragm further has a central portion substantially conforming to the enlarged attachment head and reentrant portion of the plunger thereby effectively locking the diaphragm to the plunger and its attachment head. The attached diaphragm is thereby adapted to provide a substantially frictionless seal between the reciprocable plunger and the fluent product. The unique structure and combination of the plunger and flexible diaphragm of the subject pump dispenser provides for ease of manufacturing and handling of such pump dispenser subassembly.
