摘要： A system for producing a proof-mass assembly includes a translation stage to receive a flapper hingedly supported by a bifilar flexure that extends radially inwardly from a support ring, wherein the bifilar flexure comprises a pair of flexure arms spaced apart by an opening or window; and a femtosecond laser optically coupled to the translation stage with focusing optics, the femtosecond laser applying a laser beam on the flexure arms over a plurality of passes to gradually thin the bifilar flexure regions, the laser periodically reducing a laser output to minimize damage from laser scanning and maximize bifilar flexure strength until the bifilar flexure reaches a predetermined thickness.

摘要： Systems and methods are disclosed for generating temperature compensated acceleration data in both analog and digital format from a torque balance accelerometer (TBA). During manufacture of the TBA, a calibration process is used consisting of cooling and heating the TBA to discrete temperatures within a range and at each discrete temperature measuring the TBA scale factor and offset. After collecting scale and offset data, said data is loaded into the memory of the TBA.During field operation, sensing a current temperature, retrieving the closest scale and offset correction factors from memory of the TBA, and performing linear interpolation to generate a temperature-compensated output for the TBA.

摘要： A communication system providing telephony communication across combined circuit switched and packet switched networks, such as a telephone network and the Internet, which are connectable to terminals, such as telephones and computers, for selective communication therebetween. The communication system includes an authorization and account control object in the packet switched network, multiple gateways between the circuit switched and packet switched networks providing controlled connectivity between those networks, and an information retrieval object in the packet switched network, wherein the authorization and account control object maintains a substantially real time record of user accounts and usage, and the information and retrieval object provides substantially real time retrieval of selected information from the authorization and account control object. The retrieval object provides on demand to terminals which provide authentication for access to an identified account information regarding that account. The information regarding the account is substantially real time information including information with respect to communications in progress, which are chargeable to the account which has been authenticated. The authorization and account control object is preferably a unitary logical object having distributed instances thereof handling multitudinous accounts of widely separated terminals. The retrieval object provides isolation of the authorization and account control object permitting simultaneous multitasking by the authorization and account control object and the retrieval object respectively.

摘要： In advanced digital networks for providing selective point-to-point communications between subscribers terminals and broadband server equipment operated by a plurality of independent information service providers, routing through the network is controlled by functionality identified as a Level 1 Gateway. The Level 1 Gateway will perform a variety of functions including communications port management of transmissions of information between subscribers and servers, processing of billing information and session management. The Level 1 Gateway generates menus of providers, either as a function of providers available through a particular portion of the network or in a customized fashion specified by individual subscribes. The Level 1 Gateway may also provide a PIN number functionality, e.g. to permit parents to limit which providers their children can access. The Level 1 Gateway is itself an interactive device in that subscribers can input information and receive display information from the Gateway to define or modify their own video dial tone service through the network.

摘要： An embossed plastic panel door including a pair of plastic panel faces, preferably made of polyvinyl chloride, at least one of the plastic panel faces having a preselected design embossed thereon, and a relatively rigid polystyrene core having the same preselected design burned onto its facing surface. The embossed design is stretch embossed on each of the plastic panels and is burned into the core with a heated die. The core is then covered with heated adhesive and the plastic facing panels are placed on the opposing major surfaces of the core with the designs on the panels in alignment with the burned-in designs on the core and the panels and core are pressed together to form the completed door. A wooden perimeter frame may be placed around the core prior to securing the plastic panel faces thereon in order to provide a thermal brake and increase the structural definition.
