摘要： An adaptive multi-line view user interface is provided that varies the manner in which data is displayed as the size of the user interface is changed. As the available horizontal space in the user interface becomes too small to display the text or data on a given display line, the data is rearranged to fit the available space. Text or data that will be truncated as the width of the user interface is decreased is moved to a separate display line beneath the line in which the truncated text or data was previously displayed. A maximum number of lines may be specified for displaying text or data. After the maximum number of lines is reached, additional text or data truncated by narrowing the width of the user interface is not displayed. The displayed lines of text or data may be displayed according to a progressively lighter font from line to line so that lines at or near the top of a given displayed text or data record are darker and more readily draw the attention of a reader.

摘要： A fluidic device having a plenum chamber, an input port to the chamber for receiving a supply of gas, and a power nozzle contiguous with the plenum chamber for generating a power jet. Means is located upstream of the power nozzle for controlling the directional flow of the power jet exiting the power nozzle. The controlling means is comprised of an elongated movable element, so positioned within the plenum chamber to be surrounded by the gas therein, and means for adjusting the position of one end of the element relative to the axis of the power nozzle for controlling the directional flow of the power jet exiting the nozzle. The fluidic device forms part of a fluidic amplifier having at least first and second fluidic receivers positioned downstream from the power nozzle. The first receiver is axially aligned with the power nozzle for receiving the power jet when one end of the element is normally axially aligned with and located adjacent the power nozzle. The second receiver is angularly displaced in a first direction from the axis of the power nozzle for receiving the power jet when the position of the one end of the element is varied in the first direction relative to the axis of the power nozzle.

An automatic mail grouping property may be selected for electronic mail received, sent or stored in a variety of storage folders. For a given mail location (e.g., received mail, sent mail, or a given mail storage folder), a selected automatic grouping property causes mail to be displayed to a user in one or more categories that make location of specific mail items easier and more efficient. Visible dividers with optional headings may be provided between mail categories to quickly draw a user's attention to a given mail category and to separate large numbers of mail into logical groupings that make location of specific mail items more manageable.

摘要： A wireless phone-line interface provides wireless communications between a modem and a switched telephone network. A wireless phone-line interface has a line interface transceiver coupled to a switched telephone network and a modem transceiver coupled to a modem. The modem may be coupled to computer, multimedia, or other electronic information equipment. The line interface transceiver and modem transceiver exchange wireless signals in reselected channels so that up-link and down-link frequencies transmitted and received by the line interface and modem transceivers are separate and distinct and do not interfere with one another. The cabling previously required between the modem and the switch telephone network is thereby eliminated, allowing easy relocation of the modem with its associated computer equipment to anywhere within the transmission range of the line interface and modem transceivers. The transceivers may be powered by DC-adapted 110 volt AC power. A telephone connected to the line interface transceiver may have priority for emergency conditions, usurping control of the associated telephone line for immediate access to the switched telephone network.

A recording center having a microphone (or other audio input device) is used to record a brief message, in a digital fashion, for loading into a playback module. If the temporarily recorded message is in good form, the customer activates a transfer command button and the message is non-volatilely stored in the removable playback module. The playback module may be placed into a compartment within a greeting card or picture, ornament, a stuffed animal or doll, or even a dog tag.
