摘要： The invention is concerned with a method of manufacturing badges and insignia, for example of the type worn by policemen and army personnel. The method comprises extruding metal, preferably aluminum, to form a channel-shaped section. The section has a flat planar surface portion and a pair of spaced parallel flanges projecting rearwardly from the rear face of the surface portion and at right angles to the face. The extruded section is passed through a punching machining machine, and side-acting punches remove portions of the metal forming the flanges to form lugs. A badge is formed in the planar surface portion of the section, and the completed badge is severed from the remainder of the extrusion. The invention also includes a badge made by the method which includes fastening lugs projecting from the reverse of the badge and formed integrally with the badge by extrusion.

摘要： A rejection rate of a selective sequential processing apparatus such as a mail sortation apparatus is reduced by combining results of at least two feature discrimination arrangements such as optical character recognition and a bar code reader based on comparisons of results of the feature discrimination results against each other and against expected values to validate at least one result and rejecting articles for manual processing only when no feature discrimination result can be validated. The results of one feature discrimination technique can be used to augment results of another feature discrimination technique to improve selective processing accuracy and processing speed and throughput are increased by allowing use of faster or accelerated feature discrimination processes while maintaining a greater number of articles within the automated process.

摘要： An end face seal especially adapted for use in severe service environments such as for sealing track pins of crawler type tractors. The seal includes a primary annular seal, having a radially extending flange portion for contacting a mating surface in face sealing engagement and an axially extending flange portion, and a secondary annular sealing member positioned in use about the axial flange portion. The cross section of the secondary annular sealing member is generally parallelogram-shaped in an unstressed condition.
