    • The present invention is in the technical field of virtual reality therapy/rehabilitation (VRT/R) for survivors of acquired brain injury (ABI) and other brain-affected individuals who experience disrupted brain-to-extremities communications to intact, existing and anatomically original, but disabled extremities. Specifically the present invention is directed to assisting survivors of acquired brain injury (ABI) traumatic brain injury, autism spectrum disorder, focal dystonias and other brain-affected individuals by computer-presenting/displaying a combination of virtual anatomical extremities (VAEs) in two forms: 1-VAEs which are computer pre-programmed to make simulated physical movements according to the programmer's design and purpose; and 2-VAEs which are interactively and tactically controlled/directed by users to make custom-purposed simulated physical movements according to the user's design and purpose. This invention conjoins the use of 1-VAEs and 2-VAEs to provide ABI survivors and other brain-to body-affected individuals with realistic, anatomically analogous controls over one or more virtual disabled extremities and one or more virtual unaffected extremities.

    • A method of developing processing system software media to provide at least one user with a display of at least one user controllable image such that the user causes the user controllable image to perform interactive, idiosyncratic, simulated, physical, movements on a display means. The invention includes the display of demonstrative image movements to which users cause interactive, idiosyncratic, simulated, physical, responsive movements to be made by user controllable images. Demonstrative image movements may be made by images of any previously or presently living things, objects and systems. The user controllable images are customized by the user with respect to its on-screen proportional dimensions and characteristics and its movements may be idiosyncratically controlled by the user and/or by pre-programmed, pre-stored, maintained means. The user controllable image acquires a form of personalized artificial intelligence in that users' transmissions of idiosyncratic input controls are stored and maintained by the processing system as the effective memory and autonomous and/or semi-autonomous movement capabilities of users' controllable images.

    • The invention comprises one or more electro-mechanical robots in human form designed to resemble hockey player(s). The robots are suspended from a movable overhead track and powered by motorized cars along a variety of courses, all of which causes the robots to move at the speed(s) and follow the skating pathways used in hockey plays and maneuvers. The elevation, speed and pathways followed by the robots are selected from a computer menu. The robots may be used for instructing and training skaters in the skills, maneuvers and plays essential to the sport of ice (and roller) hockey. The robots are designed to provide a teaching/learning tool and to be used in conditions which realistically resemble those that skaters/players encounter in real hockey games. Robots are equipped with sensor chips which, when impacted by the skater, will provide measurable data regarding the skater's performance during training sessions. Feedback will also be provided via video recordings of the training sessions and by other means, such as digitized images of the skater(s) and robot(s). The overhead tracks from which the robots are suspended may be raised to a position far above the ice surface when robots are not in use, so as to provide a clear rink to be used for other purposes.

    • A system for improving physical motor control of affected human extremities and related cognitive and nervous system processes improvement includes a computer device having a display device and an input device each disposed in communication with the computer device. The computer device is configured to display to a user at least one virtual body part that represents a corresponding body part portion of the user requiring improvement. The virtual body part(s) is shown in a first configuration on the display device. The computer device receives user input that causes the virtual body part(s) to move in a user-directed motion. The computer device displays the user-directed motion of the virtual body part to a second configuration based on the user input. The user repeats the user input to cause improvement of physical motor control of the corresponding body part of the user.

    • The present invention pertains to a method of instruction and simulated training and competitive play or entertainment in an activity that couples cognitive and motor functions, in particular, the playing of the game of hockey. The invention includes a computer used to view and to control images of hockey players on a computer screen. An image of a hockey player controlled by the user is juxtaposed to or superimposed upon the image of an instructive, ideal or master hockey player(s). The user manipulates the controlled image of a hockey player in an effort to approximate the movements of the instructive or ideal player via an input device such as a keyboard, joystick, or virtual reality device. The invention also includes means by which the user's performance in approximating the instructive or ideal player may be measured. The user can also control an image of a hockey player on the computer screen so that the image engages in performing offensive and defensive drills in opposition to an ideal or another opponent or team.
