摘要： Alloys comprised of a refined microstructure, ultrafine or nano scaled, that when reacted with water or any liquid containing water will spontaneously and rapidly produce hydrogen at ambient or elevated temperature are described. These metals, termed here as aluminum based nanogalvanic alloys will have applications that include but are not limited to energy generation on demand. The alloys may be composed of primarily aluminum and other metals e.g., tin bismuth, indium, gallium, lead, etc. and/or carbon, and mixtures and alloys thereof. The alloys may be processed by ball milling for the purpose of synthesizing powder feed stocks, in which each powder particle will have the above-mentioned characteristics. These powders can be used in their inherent form or consolidated using commercially available techniques for the purpose of manufacturing useful functional components.

摘要： A method for developing capture agents for target proteins employs a compound library to find cyclic peptide sequences that bind the target protein. The target protein is also reacted with a clickable group-provider reagent to provide the protein with clickable groups. The compounds in the library are provided with complementary clickable groups that bind the clickable group on the target protein when the peptide sequences bind the target protein. In some embodiments, the cyclic peptide sequences that bind the target protein are incorporated into constructs having one or more arms that can serve as capture agents or potential treatments against the pathogens from which the target protein is derived. Some embodiments provide pharmaceutical compositions for immunoassays, diagnostics, therapeutics or the like, that employ the constructs.

摘要： A recirculating micro-combustor device and a method of formation includes an array of reactors contacting each other. Each reactor includes a front wall; an end wall oppositely positioned to the front wall; a pair of edge walls connecting the front wall to the end wall; an inlet port positioned in the front wall; a pair of outlet ports positioned in the front wall; and a combustion chamber connected to the inlet port and positioned between the front wall and the end wall. 摘要： We present a novel technology to prevent water absorption into substrates and to prevent the hydrolysis process thereof. To these ends, we disclose very thin-film water-vapor barrier for applications to substrate surfaces and methods for manufacturing the same. A polymeric compound film and silica-like compound film form a bilayer and one or more bilayers form the barrier on the substrate. The thickness of the film layers is kept below the thin film interference thickness to ensure that the one or more transparent bilayers are substantially transparent to the light. The thin film interference thickness may be characterized as the wavelength of light (λ) divided by four (4) times the index of refraction (n) of the film materials.

摘要： Novel electrically-isolated high-voltage sensors are provided which have low power dissipation. The sensors are formed of a circuit comprising first and second portions separated by an electrical isolation boundary with the first portion used for high-voltage, and the second portion for low-voltage. While they are decoupled electrically, they are coupled both optically and magnetically. The first portion comprises an LED which generates an optical signal corresponding to a high-voltage signal across the electrical-isolation boundary. The second portion comprises a photodiode which receives the optical signal emitted from the LED and outputs a corresponding low-voltage electrical signal. A temperature-compensating LED biasing sub-circuit may span both portions and include a temperature sensor, a coupled inductor magnetically coupling the electrical isolation boundary, and a rectifier and filter, to provide a bias to the LED which biases the LED to operate in a substantially-linear manner irrespective of the ambient temperature.

摘要： A method, apparatus and system for performing optical positioning. The apparatus comprises a laser transmitter configured to transmit a laser beam toward a retroreflector, where the location of retroreflector is known and the retroreflector reflects the laser beam and imparts modulation onto the laser beam. An optical receiver receives the reflected laser beam reflected from the retroreflector and a processor extracts a code from the modulation, determines the location of the retroreflector and calculates the distance from the apparatus to the retroreflector and uses the code and distance to determine a position of the apparatus.
