    • A bent connector terminal with improved stability when held within a groove (23) of a comb-shaped, press-fit jig (20,22), the terminal aligned with a hole (32) of a printed circuit board (30) and to be press-fitted into the hole. In one embodiment, at least one widened portion (12e) is formed on the connector terminal between a tip flange part (12b) and a swelled or widened part (12c), the widening of the part (12c) caused by bending of the connector terminal. The widened portion (12e) and the swelled part (12c) serve to stabilize the connector terminal within the groove (23) of the press-fit jig as the jig is used to press on the tip flange part (12b). In another embodiment, the connector terminal includes notches (12d) at the location where the connector terminal is to be bent, to compensate for widening caused by the bending step so that no swelled or broadened area is produced at this region. In this embodiment, since no widening is produced at the bent region the press-fit jig grooves may be narrowed so that the bent connector terminal is supported evenly between the bend and the flange part (12b) and stability is improved.

    • A sound-absorbing material and a cable reel including the same are produced inexpensively and are able to attenuate sliding noise and vibration noise. A sound-absorbing material 20 is made of a polyethylene film 20a and is formed into a thin waved sheet having continuous wave crests and wave troughs. A synthetic paper 20b having a lubricative surface is attached to the wave crests on a front side of the polyethylene film 20a through an adhesive. As an air layer 21 is defined in a space surrounded by the wave crests and wave troughs, any sounds which are transmitted to the polyethylene film 20a collide on the wave crests and wave troughs thereby being effectively attenuated and absorbed. The sound-absorbing material 20 is struck on a bearing surface 12a of a stationary member 11 by way of an adhesive. A lateral lower edge of a flat cable 15 slides on the lubricative surface of the synthetic paper 20b, thereby suppressing generation of sliding noise. Vibration noise during an idling mode collides on the wave crests and wave troughs thereby being effectively attenuated and adsorbed.

    • A connector assembly is provided with a connector (first connector) to be mounted on a circuit board and a connector (second connector) for holding a flat cable flat wire member). When the two connectors are connected with each other, an end portion of the cable is inserted into the connector to bring conductors of the cable into contact with mating terminals. The connector is provided with a plate-shaped holder, and the cable is supported on this holder in such a state as to be displaceable in widthwise direction. On the other hand, the connector is provided with a pair of locking pieces as a positioning portion. When the two connectors are connected with each other, the respective locking pieces directly come into contact with the cable being inserted into the connector from widthwise outer sides, thereby positioning the cable with respect to the connector in widthwise direction. The respective conductors of the flat wire member can be more precisely and securely brought into contact with the mating terminals.
