In a gasket (100) in which a protruded part (110), which serves to stabilize the posture of the gasket (100) in a groove (201) by being in contact with an inner wall surface of the groove (201) in a state where the gasket is sandwiched by a head cover (200) and a cylinder head, is continuously formed in a longitudinal direction of the gasket (100), the protruded part (110) is characterized by a stepped structure which includes a first protruded portion (111) with the largest amount of protrusion that is formed along the vicinity of a center of a gasket main body, a second protruded portion (112) with the smallest amount of protrusion that is formed at the side of the head cover (200), and a third protruded portion (113) that is formed at the side of the cylinder head, and has an amount of protrusion which is smaller than that of the first protruded portion (111), and larger than that of the second protruded portion (112).

    • There is provided a tool holding and conveying chain adapted to securely lock and position a tool pot, i.e., a connecting pin, to a pin hole of either an outer or inner link plate so that the tool pot does not to turn and to achieve steady and smooth attachment and removal of a tool in and out of the tool pot with a simple attachment structure. The tool pot has a pair of positioning flat portions formed by cutting a link plate attaching outer circumferential region of the tool pot and the outer link plate has a pair of positioning cooperative flat portions formed so as to bulge out of an inner circumference to a center of a pin hole. The positioning flat portions of the tool pot is fitted into and locked by the positioning cooperative flat portions when the tool pot is attached in the link plate.

    • Masonry units (10) are integrally assembled by tightening forces of bolts (60) and nuts (70), in a condition that interlayer metal plates (50) are interposed between the masonry units. A basic form (11) of the masonry unit is contained in a mold for forming the masonry unit. A space (98) for fluidic covering material, which is chargeable with the covering material, is defined between upper and lower faces of the form (11), and the fluidic covering material is charged in the space. The upper and lower faces of the masonry unit are covered with the solidified covering material (12). According to the present invention, high dimensional accuracy of the masonry unit can be ensured, and efficiency of the production process of the masonry units is promoted to improve productivity of the masonry units.

    • The invention provides a process for producing gaskets that is capable of improving the wettability of the metal surface to thereby enhance the tackiness when rubber is anchored to a metal core material without using an adhesive.The process for producing gaskets includes the steps of: forming a metal core material (2) using a stainless steel plate; treating the resulting metal core material (2) with an alkali treating solution; preparing an unvulcanized rubber molded product (1); mounting the metal core material (2) treated in the treating step to the unvulcanized rubber molded product (1); and vulcanizing the rubber-molded product to thereby anchor the elastic material to the metal core material (2) without using an adhesive; characterized in that the alkali treating solution used in the step of alkali treatment includes the following components (A), (B), and (C): (A) an alkali metal hydroxide or an alkaline earth metal hydroxide; (B) an alkali metal silicate or an alkaline earth metal silicate; and (C) a carboxylate salt.
