    • An archive system and a file storage system are connected via a communication network, wherein the file storage system (a) replicates a file to the archive system; (b) manages the replicated file as a file to be stubbed; (c) updates the priority information of a metadata based on a result computed from the priority information of metadata of an already stored file and the priority information of the access request; (d) retains an access date and time information of the access request in the metadata; (e) monitors a used capacity of the file storage system; and (f) starts a deleting process of a file to be stubbed using either the priority information or the date and time information in the metadata when the used capacity exceeds an upper limit set in advance.

    • It is an object of the present invention to allow easy upgrading of the version of the OS in a failover cluster system. When the user mounts a storage medium 4 on the node 1, and gives instructions to install a program, the installation program 12 requests the failover program 11 for the stopping of heartbeat communications. The node 1 voluntarily stops heartbeat communications in a state in which the system of this node is operating normally. When the failover program 21 of the node 2 detects the stopping of heartbeat communications, this program starts failover, and takes over the business service of the node 1. During the execution of failover by the node 2, the program stored in the storage medium 4 is installed in the node 1. When this installation is completed, the node 1 transmits a failback request to the node 2, and restarts the business service.

    • A cluster system coupled to a client computer via a network has plural nodes which provide services to the client computer. A first node of the plural nodes has a priority recognizing processing module, which consults a priority of a frame received from the client computer. A second node of the plural nodes has a fail over processing module, which performs fail over on plural software resources managed by the first node according to an order of fail over priority that is based on the priority consulted by the priority recognizing processing module of the first node.
