摘要： Apparatus, and an associated method, for determining a carrier-to-interference ratio to be used in a closed-loop power control scheme to control power levels at which data is sent to a mobile station operable pursuant to a high-rate data communications service. A signal power level calculator calculates power levels of a pilot signal at successive power control group intervals. Calculations are made of the noise power levels, and a ratio of the values is formed. A report is generated and returned to a network part of the communication system, thereby to provide indications of the network part used to alter the power levels at which data is communicated to the mobile station.

摘要： A frequency modulation (FM) transmitter implemented with a delta-sigma modulator and a phase-locked loop (PLL) is described. The delta-sigma modulator receives a modulating signal (e.g., an FM stereo multiplex (MPX) signal) and provides a modulator output signal. The PLL performs frequency modulation based on the modulator output signal and provides an FM signal. The FM transmitter may further include a gain/phase compensation unit and a scaling unit. The compensation unit may compensate the modulating signal for the closed-loop response of the PLL. The scaling unit may scale the amplitude of the modulating signal based on a gain to obtain a target frequency deviation for the FM signal. The PLL may operate in a transmit mode or a receive mode, may perform frequency modulation in the transmit mode, and may provide a local oscillator (LO) signal at a fixed frequency in the receive mode.

摘要： A method of switching between Coherent and Non-Coherent demodulation based on computed metrics, in cases where stereo FM broadcasting stations do not adhere to RDS broadcast specifications. Re-utilizes existing hardware to demodulate RDS data in mono. The residual frequency offset is resolved using a Non Coherent demodulator and a time tracking algorithm. RDS data relies on the 57 kHz sub-carrier that is generated using 19 kHz pilot tone. In Mono broadcasting pilot tone is not present. A local 57 kHz free running signal is generated, and this is then used to demodulate the RDS data in Non-Coherent mode.
