    • The primary object of the invention is to provide a method of producing novel phosphate and potash (PK) containing compound fertilizers in the form of powders showing good handle-ability by which method the phosphate components contained in an incinerated ash residue of chicken droppings is improved in solubility and thus rendered effective or available and, at the same time, the free CaO-derived alkali is neutralized, as well as such novel phosphate and potash(PK) containing compound fertilizers. The above object can be accomplished by adding an alkaline earth metal compound to the powdery incinerated ash residue of chicken droppings, adding a mineral acid to the resulting mixture, allowing the reaction to proceed and raising the reaction system temperature by utilizing the heat of reaction of the powdery alkaline earth metal compound with the mineral acid to thereby promote the reaction between the free CaO contained in the incinerated ash residue of chicken droppings and so forth with the mineral acid and convert the phosphate components to citric acid-soluble P2O5 and, at the same time, maintaining the product neutral or weakly acidic.

The carrageenan has long been utilized in food additves so that the carrageenan is highly safe. Since the carrageenan is a water-soluble natural polysaccharide, it rapidly dissolves on mixing with slaked lime and kneading with water. The carrageenan further has excellent water holding, viscosity control and, hence, excess water absorption into bases, e.g., walls, is prevented. The compositions are improved in adhesive properties to bases, workability, and water resistive properties.

    • In order to prevent biological lesions of plants caused by deficiency in calcium, the present invention is directed to provide a method of preparing at low cost a composition containing saccharides, organic acids and high content calcium component for spraying on plant leaves or fruits. Into an aqueous solution containing glucose and an organic acid, calcium hydroxide or a substance capable of forming calcium hydroxide upon hydration in an aqueous solution is dissolved. The organic acid is at least one selected from formic acid, acetic acid and propionic acid. The adding order of glucose and organic acid to water is not restricted, and the concurrent addition is allowed. The calcium hydroxide is added finally. The amount of glucose is from 15 wt. % to 40 wt. % of water and that of the organic acid is from 3 wt. % to less than 20 wt. % of water.
