摘要： Measuring a parameter characteristic of a formation in an oil well with a device configured to generate a sensing field within a volume of the formation and cause a flow through the volume in the presence of the sensing field. The device also comprises sensors responsive to changes in the volume, which indicate existent amounts of fluid, such as hydrocarbon and water saturations and irreducible hydrocarbon and water saturations. Measurements may be made before the flow affects the measuring volume and after onset of the flow through the measuring volume.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for investigating a hydrocarbon bearing geological formation traversed by a borehole are disclosed. A borehole tool is used to acquire a sample of fluid in the formation. Compositional analysis of the fluid sample is conducted to provide a determination of the composition of the sample. The sample composition is then related to a model of the thermodynamic behavior of the fluid; i.e., the mass fractions of the fluid components are used as inputs to an equation of state (EOS) to predict the phase behavior of the fluid.

摘要： A method for characterizing formation fluid using flowline viscosity and density data in an oil-based mud environment includes: making an initial estimate of the density and viscosity of the individual components of the sampled fluid; measuring the volume fractions, density, and viscosity of the total mixture of formation fluid; computing the density and viscosity of the total mixture using the estimate and the measured volume fractions; comparing the computed values with the measured values; and updating the estimate based on the comparison until convergence. The process is repeated as additional data are acquired until the converged computed values differ only by an acceptable amount.

The method comprises: monitoring a fluid supply pressure; determining whether the fluid supply pressure is below a threshold value; and stopping a fuel cell discharge if the fluid supply pressure is below the threshold value.

The aquifer provides relatively warm water which may be produced up and into the hydrate formation thereby causing the release of gas from the hydrate. The correlation time is directly related to the diffusion time scale arising out of the pressure diffusion equation. The relationship is affected by the source-observer or observer-observer distance but the correction is small for large distances. In practice, further corrections have to be included for finite width pulses. For these pulses, a practical scheme for continuous permeability monitoring is presented.

摘要： A single probe system is utilized to quickly obtain uncontaminated formation fluid samples. The single probe includes an outer guard tube and an inner sampling tube which is slightly recessed relative to the outer tube such that the pressure at the front face of the probe is substantially uniform. Each tube is coupled to its own pump which controls the flow rate of the fluid moving through that tube. Knowing the size of the sampling tube relative to the size of the outer probe tube, and optionally based on relative viscosities of formation fluids and filtrates, the pumps are caused to generate a particular flow rate ratio through the tubes such that an appropriate pressure is maintained at the front face of the probe and such that the fluid flowing through the sampling tube is substantially uncontaminated.
