    • In a connector fitting structure, a first retaining portion is formed on an inner surface in a slider receiving portion formed in a housing of the male connector a second retaining portion is formed at an distal end of a first engagement arm of a slider. Slanting surfaces are formed on those portions of the first and second retaining portions so that said second retaining portion smoothly engages with said first retaining portion by operating an operating portion, when the fitted condition of said male and female connectors is cancelled. Further, the slider includes first and second slide members and compression springs and is mounted in the slider receiving portion. Retaining projections are formed on opposite sides of the first slide member, and slider retaining portions are formed on side surfaces of the slider receiving portion. Therefore, the retaining projections are retained by the slider retaining portions.

    • In a connector fitting structure, one connector includes an inner housing, having lock arms, and an outer housing having a slider slidably mounted therein. The other connector includes a housing, and engagement projections for abutment against the slider and for respectively elastically deforming the lock arms are formed on this housing. Second retaining portions, which are engageable respectively with first retaining portions formed on the one connector, are formed respectively on engagement arms 16 provided at a second slide member of the slider. Stoppers, which prevent the cancellation of the engagement of the first retaining portions with the second retaining portions before starting the connector fitting operation, are formed on a first slide member of the slider.

    • A locking arm 27 is supported by a fulcrum 31 attached to a body 28 and a pair of coupling portions 33, 34. When an operation portion 30 is pressed down, an engaging portion 29 located between the fulcrum 31 and the coupling portions 33, 34 is shifted vertically to a direction of coupling a connector 10 with a complementary connector 38. The coupling portions 33, 34 are made in parallel to the direction of coupling the connector 10 with the complementary connector 38. The pair of coupling portions 33 and 34 are formed as a pair of legs. A sliding groove 35 is formed between the pair of legs 33 and 34 so as to correspond to an engaging portion 44 of the complementary connector 38. The engaging portion 44 will be slid into the sliding groove 35. In such a configuration, the locking mechanism can remove backlash between a female connector and a male connector to provide high coupling accuracy.

    • A connector 1 has a resilient terminal locking arm 12 having a forward half 31 and a rear half 33, the forward half 31 partially defining a wall partition wall 11 for a terminal accommodating space 7 of a housing 2 of the connector, the rear half having a fore end to serve as a terminal stopping surface 32. The terminal stopping surface 32 is positioned at a middle of the terminal locking arm 12 in a longitudinal direction of the connector. A pair of the forward arm halves 31 are provided to be opposed to each other in a transverse direction of the connector, and the terminal stopping surface 32 extends across a width of the terminal accommodation space 7 between the pair of forward halves. Furthermore, a holder combined connector has a connector housing 102, and a front holder 105, the connector housing 102 has a resilient terminal locking arm 113 in a terminal accommodating space, and the front holder 105 is coupled to a connector main part 104 of the connector housing to define the terminal accommodating chamber. The front holder 105 has a wall to define at least one of upper and lower walls 132, 110 of the terminal accommodating chamber when the front holder is completely coupled to the connector main part. The wall 112 of the front holder advances into a deflectable space of the terminal locking arm 113 to prevent a deflection of the terminal locking arm.
