摘要： A development subsystem is used to develop developer having semiconductive carrier particles and toner particles. The development subsystem includes a developer housing, for retaining a quantity of developer having semiconductive carrier particles and toner particles, a first magnetic roll having a stationary core with at least one magnet and a sleeve that rotates about the stationary core of the first magnetic roll, a second magnetic roll having a stationary core with at least one magnet and a sleeve that rotates about the stationary core of the second magnetic roll, and a motor coupled to the first and the second magnetic rolls to drive the rotating sleeves of the first and the second magnetic rolls in a direction that is against the direction of a photoreceptor that rotates in proximity to the first and the second magnetic rolls. The first and the second magnetic rolls carry semiconductive carrier particles and toner particles through a development zone formed by the first and the second magnetic rolls.

摘要： A donor member, useful in ionographic or electrophotographic apparatuses and preferably useful in hybrid scavengeless development units, has a substrate and an oxidized transport coating thereover. The oxidized transport coating includes a polymer binder, charge transporting molecules and one or more oxidizing agents. The polymer binder of the donor roll coating preferably includes one of (1) a crosslinked polymer with charge transporting molecules dispersed therein, or (2) a crosslinked polyamide binder with hydroxy charge transport molecules dispersed therein. The donor roll is preferably included in a printing machine that develops latent images formed on a photoconductive member.

The donor roll is adaptable for use with a power source to assist in transporting the marking particles. The donor roll includes a rotatably mounted body having a particle transportation portion, a support portion adjacent the particle transportation portion, and an external portion adjacent the support portion and spaced from the particle transportation portion. The donor roll further includes an electrode member mounted on the body and an electrical connector associated with the support portion of the body and electrically connected to the electrode member. The electrical connector is adapted to be electrically connectable to the power source.

A sensor is positioned on one side of the belt in opposed relationship to a light source which can be a lamp dedicated solely to that purpose or light from an imager such as an LED array or a Raster Output Scanner. Illumination from the light source of the end of the array is detected by a sensor when the seam passes therebetween creating a characteristic output signal which is recognized by system software and used to control imager operation to ensure that latent images are not formed across the seam.
