摘要： An electroluminescent device comprises a light-emitting layer containing a light emitting material that contains an organometallic complex having a partial structure represented by the following formula (I): wherein, M represents a metal selected from group 8, 9, or 10 metals; and one X is a carbon that forms a covalent bond with M and the other two Xs are heteroatoms, one of which forms a coordinative bond with M and the other of which forms a covalent bond with M; wherein all of the Xs are linked together to form a dianionic tridentate cyclometallating ligand to form a five or six-membered metallocycle with M where each X can be a part of a separate cyclic or acyclic structure.

The invention provides devices that emit light with high luminous efficiency at low voltage.

摘要： Disclosed is an electroluminescent device comprising a cathode, an anode, and, located there between, a light emitting layer (LEL) containing a light emitting material that contains an organometallic complex comprising Pt or Pd metal and a tridentate (N^N^C) ligand, wherein the tridentate (N^N^C) ligand represents a ligand that coordinates to the metal through a nitrogen donor bond, a second nitrogen donor bond, and a carbon-metal bond, in that order, wherein at least one of the nitrogen donors is part of an aromatic ring or an imine group, and wherein the Pt or Pd atom also forms a bond to an anionic ligand group L, wherein L represents alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or a cyano carbon, or halogen, or RX, wherein X represents a substituent that forms a bond to the Pt or Pd atom and wherein X represents N, O, S, or Se, and R represents a substituent. Such a device provides useful light emissions.

摘要： A process for forming a facial tris-cyclometallated iridium or rhodium complex isomer comprises heating an original composition containing (a) a meridional isomer of a tris-cyclometallated iridium or rhodium complex in (b) an organic hydrocarbon solvent, a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent, or a combination thereof, to a reaction temperature of least 150° C. for a time sufficient to form a product containing the facial isomer in an increased ratio to meridional isomer compared to the original composition. The process is simple and efficient and provides improved purity.
