    • In a body fat measuring apparatus, a constant electric-current is flowed between hand electric-current electrodes and leg electric-current electrodes. From two detected voltages generated between an annular-shaped voltage electrode placed on an abdominal portion and two voltage electrodes placed at the both sides of a lumbar portion, two abdominal impedances are determined. Two electric-current electrodes and two voltage electrodes are placed such that they are spaced apart by a small interval from one another at an umbilicus portion. A constant electric current is flowed between the two electric-current electrodes and the impedance in the vicinity of the subcutaneous of the abdominal portion is determined from the detected voltage generated between the two voltage electrodes. From the two abdominal impedances, the impedance in the vicinity of the subcutaneous of the abdominal portion, and the input physique information, a viscera impedance is calculated.

    • A bioelectrical impedance measurement abdomen attachment unit includes an electrode support for supporting an electrode and a long belt to be wrapped around an abdomen of a subject. The electrode support includes a fixing portion fixed with one end of the belt in a relatively immovable manner with respect to the electrode support, and a holder for holding a portion closer to another end of the belt in a relatively movable manner with respect to the electrode support. The holder includes an attachment portion removably attachable to an arbitrary position of the portion closer to the other end of the belt and a biasing portion for coupling the attachment portion and the electrode support and biasing the attachment portion and the electrode support in an approaching direction. According to such a configuration, there is obtained a bioelectrical impedance measurement attachment unit which enables the electrodes to be pressed against the abdomen of the subject with a constant load with satisfactory reproducibility and which is not painful to the subject.

    • Blood pressure measurement is precisely performed by more correctly determining positions of a cuff and a heart without being affected by variations in physical features among subject persons and their postures during the measurement. With the technique of the present invention, there are calculated the altitudes of the cuff and the heart on the basis of an inputted upper arm length and forearm length of a subject person and forearm angles detected in the pitch direction and roll direction. Also, in addition to a forearm angle detecting means, an upper arm angle detecting means is provided and the altitudes of the cuff and the heart are calculated on the basis of detected angles of a forearm and an upper arm. Also, a biaxial angle detecting means detects angles of the forearm in the pitch direction and the roll direction and calculates the altitudes of the cuff and the heart on the basis of these detected values.
