摘要： An aromatic organic solvent solution of a methanesulfonic acid alkyl ester having high thermal stability is obtained by reacting an alkyl alcohol with methanesulfonyl chloride in an aromatic organic solvent in the presence of a tertiary amine, and washing the resulting aromatic organic solvent solution of a crude methanesulfonic acid alkyl ester with an aqueous alkali metal carbonate solution. The washing is performed using the aqueous alkali metal carbonate solution having a concentration of 1 to 3 mass% in an amount of 4 to 6 parts by mass per 1 part by mass of the alkyl alcohol.

The method for producing an α-alumina powder comprises steps of: (1) pulverizing a metal compound having a full width at half maximum (Ho) of a main peak in XRD pattern to obtain a seed crystal having a full width at half maximum (H) of the main peak in XRD pattern, (2) mixing the obtained seed crystal with an aluminum compound, (3) calcining the mixture, and wherein a ratio of H/Ho is 1.06 or more.

The present invention is directed to a method of sensing an abnormal condition in a heat exchange process between the heat medium and the process fluid having a sensing step of sensing a gas component generated as a result of decomposition of a heat medium and/or a gas component generated as a result of contact between the heat medium and the process fluid, in a vapor phase portion in a flow path for the process fluid. The method is preferably applied in a heat exchange process where the heat medium is fused salt including nitrate and/or nitrite and the process fluid includes secondary alcohols or a dehydrated product thereof.
