    • An adapter, for a terminal unit, comprising a base housing having a mount surface for mounting of a terminal unit. A receptive space is defined by a plurality of walls on a part of the mount surface. A pair of guide rails are formed on the mount surface of the base housing, so as to be slidably engaged with the terminal unit. Overhanging guide plates extending from opposed side walls have edges facing to the mount surface, so as to be slidably engaged with the terminal unit. The guides rails and the edges serve to guide the terminal unit to introduce a part of the terminal unit into the receptive space. A pair of protrusions are formed on the mount surface, so as to be engaged with the terminal unit. The protrusions serve to detachably hold the terminal unit in a proper position on the mount surface to maintain the functional connection between the adapter and the terminal unit.

    • A portable apparatus capable of using batteries as an energy source includes: a battery case portion including at least a first region and a second region providing a space for a first battery and a second battery, respectively, and a third region located between the first region and the second region necessary for loading and releasing only one of the first battery and the second battery, a slide member, located slidably at the third region, having an engaging portion which contacts one of the first battery and second battery, and a locking member which is engaged with the slide member when one of the first battery and the second battery is taken out from a corresponding region of the battery case portion, and locks the other battery in a corresponding region.

    • An electronic apparatus has an apparatus body into which one of first and second, different kinds of cards can selectively be inserted. The positions of connecting terminals of the first and second cards are different from each other. When one of the cards is inserted into said apparatus body, an electrical communication between the card and the apparatus body can be attained. The apparatus includes an apparatus body having connecting sections and an adapter which comprises a base portion, a connector member accommodated in the base portion for connecting the connecting terminals of the card to the connections sections of the apparatus body, and a unit for holding the connector member selectively at either one of two positions, in the base portion, in accordance with the kind of card.
