摘要： Information retrieval with unified search between heterogeneous objects is described. The method includes: indexing a first object as a document in a search index; referencing a second object related to the first object in a facet of the document; and storing a relationship strength between the first and second objects in the facet of the document in the search index. Multiple heterogeneous objects can be related to the first object and referenced in multiple facets of the document, each with its relationship strength to the first object. Scoring an indirect object by indirect relation to a query object can be carried out by aggregating the relationship strengths between the indirect object and the retrieved objects multiplied by the retrieved objects' direct scores of relationship strength to the query object.

An indexed token is either a facet token included in a document as an annotation or a path prefix of the facet token. The annotation indicates a path within a tree structure representing a facet that includes the document. The tree structure includes nodes representing categories of documents. A query is received that includes constraints on documents. The constraints are associated with indexed tokens and corresponding posting lists. An execution of the query includes identifying the corresponding posting lists by utilizing the constraints and the inverted index and intersecting the posting lists to obtain a query result.

The method comprises displaying the at least one photograph during the slide show and recording a voice-description corresponding to the slide show. Further, the method comprises transcribing the voice-description to form at least one transcribed-text corresponding to each photograph. The at least one transcribed-text is then stored in a database. Also, the present invention enables a user to conduct a search over the photographs in the slide show using annotations such as the transcribed-text or the voice-description.
