摘要： There are provided an image reader with high resolution capability for images in a high density range and an image forming apparatus. An image reader 2 comprises a reflected light reading unit (11, 12, 13, 14, 10) for irradiating a surface to be read of an original sheet with a light and reading the amount of the reflected light and a transmitted light reading unit (15, 12, 13, 14, 10) for irradiating the original sheet with a light and reading the amount of the transmitted light, and calculates the density of an image of the original sheet based on the amount of the reflected light read by the reflected light reading unit and the amount of the transmitted light read by the transmitted light reading unit.

摘要： In a developer cartridge of toner and carrier, uneven distribution of the carrier at least in the vicinity of a replenishing port is eliminated regardless of the composition ratio between the carrier and the toner and the specific gravity of the carrier. Provided is a construction including a developer container in which a developer containing toner and carrier is received and which has a developing roller to supply the toner to an image carrier, a developer cartridge in which a replenishing developer containing the toner and the carrier is received and which has a replenishing port connected to the developer container to allow the developer container to be replenished with the developer via the replenishing port, and stirring means capable of stirring the developer located at least in the vicinity of the replenishing port in the developer cartridge.

摘要： An image forming apparatus having an image carrier; an electrostatic latent image forming device that forms an electrostatic latent image on the image carrier; a development device having a housing section that stores toner therein, a stirring device for stirring the toner inside the housing section, and a toner, carrier that develops the electrostatic latent image into a toner image by imparting the toner to the image carrier; a voltage applying device that applies a development bias voltage between the image carrier and the toner carrier; a control device that makes the electrostatic latent image forming device and the development device form a test toner image on the image carrier; and a sensing device that senses a toner adhering amount of the test toner image. The control device determines whether to make the stirring device stir the toner based upon a relation between the toner adhering amount of the test toner image and the development bias voltage that was applied by the voltage applying device for formation of the test toner image.
