    • An image forming control apparatus includes: a gradation correction curve generator and a calibration data generator. The gradation correction curve generator generates a gradation correction curve based on a correspondence between an output instruction values each representing a density of an image to be formed by an image forming apparatus and actual density values each representing a density of the image formed by the image forming apparatus. The gradation correction curve represents a correspondence between predetermined standard density values and the output instruction values. When an output instruction value corresponding to a maximum standard density value is smaller than a maximum output instruction value, the calibration data generator corrects the gradation correction curve so that the output instruction value corresponding to the maximum standard density value coincides with the maximum output instruction value, and generates the calibration data based on the corrected gradation correction curve.

    • An image processing apparatus for simulating a print output of a printing machine. The image processing apparatus firstly acquires color value information for converting color value information of image data so that a color reproduced on one surface of a recording medium by the printing machine based on the color value information is reproduced as an output. The image processing apparatus secondly acquires show-through color profile information for converting the color value information so that the color reproduced on the one surface by the printing machine as seen from the other surface is reproduced. The image processing apparatus then generates image data formed by composing first image data obtained by converting the color value information based on the color profile information, with second image data obtained by converting the color value information based on the show-through color profile information and by inverting the converted color value information horizontally or vertically.

The image processing method includes: generating profiles for color reproduction, classified for each of recording papers, from at least one of particular characteristic data of the each recording paper, which is generated on the basis of factors that affect color reproduction and particular generation information of the each recording paper, which is obtained by printing plural patch patterns at the recording paper and performing colorimetry of the printed patch patterns; and when implementing basic extraction control for extracting a profile that matches in at least one of the characteristic data and the generation information, if no profile that matches in at least one of the characteristic data and the generation information is extracted, extracting a profile that approximates in accordance with a pre-specified order of priority determination procedure to be a candidate.
