    • An optical pickup device comprises a lens holder to hold an objective lens for irradiating a laser beam onto an optical disc; outer and inner circumferential side wires fixed at one ends thereof to outer and inner circumferential sides of the lens holder and extending substantially in parallel to the optical disc; a suspension holder for suspending and supporting the other ends of the outer and inner wires to cantilever the lens holder; and a magnetic drive circuit for driving the lens holder in a focusing direction and a tracking direction. The outer wires have an effective length longer than that of the inner wires. This makes it possible to tilt the objective lens so as to compensate the tilt of the optical disc, if any, at the time of recording and reproduction, thereby reducing jitter and improving recording and reproduction performance of the optical pickup device with simple structure.

    • An optical disc apparatus comprises, an optical pickup, a signal extracting unit for reading address information and an RF signal from an optical disc based on signal read by the optical pickup, and a main controller for performing jitter control and focus control. At an initial reading of the optical disc, the main controller determines whether an address information detector succeeds in reading the address information. If not successful (NO in S3), the main controller offsets a defocus position to two points in plus and minus directions from a defocus position giving best jitter (S7), calculates an approximate curve of signal level characteristics with a peak value (S8), and adjusts and allows the defocus value to correspond to this peak value (S9). If the optical disc apparatus cannot read address information, depending on the defocus value, it increases the signal level of the address information by the defocus position adjustment.

The connection wiring 13 in the form of a printed circuit film or strip is folded to have a U-shape and attached to a back surface 6b and the both side surfaces 6a of the dumping gel box 6 and both end portions 13a of the connection wiring 13 are tentatively adhered to the both side surfaces 6a of the dumping gel box 6 by quick drying adhesive 20. Thermosetting adhesive 14 is filled in the grooves 11 and heated to be set and finally adhere the both end portions 13a of the connection wiring 13 to the both side surfaces 6a of the dumping gel box 6. Ends 15b of elastic wires 15 extending from a lens holder 7 are attached against and soldered on lands 12 of the connection wiring 13.
