The trap is configured to provide easy access to crawling pests from all sides, and the patterned adhesive portion provides non-adhesive paths deep into the trap, such that crawling pests may venture further into the trap before encountering adhesive, thereby increasing the trapping capacity. The opposed panels or walls are configured to be urged together by the user, for example by stepping on the trap, to encase trapped pests therebetween, avoiding potential harmful exposure to the user during disposal.

    • An insect trap for targeting multiple species with an entrapment chamber having an entry structure attached to one end of the entrapment chamber and a lower lid closing a second end. The entry structure is configured to generate a first attractant plume, and includes an annular lid, a tapered guide, a plurality of members slidably engaging the lid, and an attachment fixture. The entry structure also has means for retaining a first attractant. The lower lid includes means for retaining a second attractant and a plurality of apertures, such that a second attractant plume may be generated that is spaced apart from the first attractant plume. The lower lid may include entry apertures to provide insect ingress to the entrapment chamber, and may further include a second tapered guide. The lower lid may alternatively comprise micropores that permit egress of the second attractant.

    • A method and packages for releasing volatiles of a semiochemical at a controlled or pre-selected rate are disclosed. The package containing the semiochemical includes at least one portion that is permeable to the volatiles. In some embodiments, the package is formed as a stick pack, and includes a plurality of micro-perforations having characteristics, such as size, density, and shape, that are selected to achieve a desired release rate. In an embodiment, the package is formed from a plurality of laminae, and at least one of the laminae is formed from a material that is selected for its permeability to the semiochemical volatiles. In an embodiment, the package includes a portion that is peeled away to expose a layer that is permeable to the semiochemical volatiles.

    • A yellow jacket trap has a cylindrical upper member detachably connected to a lower member. The upper member defines a hollow entrapment chamber having a bottom open end and a top end. The trap further includes an inverted cone removably inserted within the cylindrical upper member. The inverted cone has a first open end coincident with the bottom open end of the upper member and extends into the entrapment chamber. The cone tapers from its first open end to a second open end having a diameter less than that of the first open end. An orientation coupling is provided to align the inverted cone relative to the upper member and to guide the inverted cone during insertion into the upper member and removal therefrom. The trap also includes a detent element to releasably hold the inverted cone within the upper member. The detent element retains the inverted cone within the upper member even after the lower member is detached from the upper member during emptying of the entrapment chamber. This prevents the inverted cone from falling out of the upper member during emptying, thereby avoiding undesired spilling of dead yellow jackets onto the floor. The detent element enables the user to conscientiously remove the inverted cone during emptying by applying a little force to overcome the detent restraint.

    • Entry structure for a containment type insect trap having a flexible containment bag is disclosed. A first disposable configuration of my entry structure provides a vaned column slidably carried in a fastening plate to move from an inward closed position to an outward open position to provide a trap that may be used as its own container for merchandising, opened for use and after use closed to be used as a disposal container. A second reusable configuration of my entry structure releasably fastens the entry structure to the fastening plate so that both may be reused with new containment bags and attractant. The vaned configuration of the entryway column aids insect entrapment and dispersement of airborne odoriferous attractant from the trap containment bag. The trap provides the common amenities of known containment type insect traps to aid insect attraction, entrapment, killing, and disposal.

    • An insect trap (100) includes an entrapment chamber (110) with an entry structure (140) over one open end. The entry structure includes (i) a lid (142) with a central aperture (144) and one or more peripheral apertures (146); (ii) a tapered guide (150) on one side of the lid, and (iii) a port fixture (160) that extends through the central aperture and engages the tapered guide. The port fixture includes one or more tubular ports (168) that extend through the peripheral apertures, and one or more cartridges (170) that are removably inserted into the tubular ports. The cartridges contain attractant that is exposed to the interior of the attractant chamber when the trap is assembled. The cartridges may be replaced to replenish or replace attractant without removing the entry structure.

    • A bedbug trap having a base with an outer wall that may be formed as an angled ramp having a relatively shallow angle that leads to an entryway, and an inner wall extending from the outer wall that may be formed as an angled chute having a relatively steep angle. The ramp may be textured or otherwise skid-resistant, and the chute is smooth. A catch container attaches underneath the base and has a floor spaced away from the chute. A source of attractant, for example, an insulated container containing dry ice, rests on the base such that at least a portion of attractant from the container will flow toward the top of the ramp. A cover may attach to the base, enclosing the insulated container.
