    • A system and method is provided for using network asset management data including attributes such as device type, location, and link speed for modeling network performance and identifying performance issues. Functionally complete mathematical characterization of a system may be employed in order to create a system for problem recognition and resolution in which disruptive changes to physical and logical system components are only performed when necessary. Mathematical analysis of pings (or other time stamped traffic) and mathematical analysis of MIB and other asset data may be performed separately and the results compared to “self-check” and form and verify the complete mathematical characterization of a network system. Additionally, the invention may provide projections of performance impacts based upon proposed changes to one or more components in the network. Performance metrics, ping times, MIB data, link speeds, propagation delays, device latency, serialization rates, conversational speeds, conversational utilization and other data are used to model a network for determining or isolating problematic issues and to forecast performance impacts of potential changes to the network.

    • A book cover (20), which may be formed or molded from an elastomeric polymer material, has pocket portions for receiving the covers (20) of a book (10). The pocket portions may form an elliptically shaped access slot (25) that eases insertion of the covers (20) into the pocket portion. The access slot (25) may be aligned with and parallel to the spine of the book (10) and contain recesses (23) to engage the top and bottom of the spine in a spine locking engagement. The peripheral edges (11) of the book cover, and also the edges (11) of the access slot (25), may be reinforced, such as by thickening the material at these locations, for increased strength. The book cover (20) may have various visual effects or indicia, and may be textured or patterned, which may increase the grip of the hook cover (20).

    • A flexible, preferably elastic empanelled book cover (12) that has pocket portions (25) to receive the covers of a book (10) that is inserted therein. The cover (12) consists of a unitary hexagonal sheet of pliable material such as “SPANDEX”, having extended upper and lower edges, with each edge bisected by a slot (32) of predetermined width that extends orthogonally. Fold lines (34, 36 and 38) form a laterally-extended rectangle, with the side fold lines (38) forming the lateral apices of the hexagon two triangular flap portions (20) of the cover pockets. The in-folded upper and lower flap portions of the hexagon are attached to each other and to the triangular side flap portions, to form the pocket portion (25), with lock stitching (27) at the innermost juncture by the spine opening. A central top and bottom fold-over engages the spine of the book in stabilizing relation. The unitary hexagonal blanks can be economically mass produced from roll material (40).
