    • A wall frame has C-shaped vertical studs each with a web having vertically spaced openings with an outline conforming to the cross-sectional shape of a short channel member. The two legs depending from the web have a plurality of depending tabs punched therefrom. These tabs extend into vertical registration with the top and bottom edges of each opening such that when a short channel member is inserted through the stud it is supported by the opening and by the tabs and is thereby stabilized in position. The short channel members have plastic spring clips snapped thereto. A gypsum board panel with clips attached thereto may then be mounted to the wall frame by clipping the clips to the horizontal channel members. The spring fingers of the plastic clips on the short channel members abut the gypsum board panel to dampen vibration.

    • A shelving standard is fabricated from a single plate with portions of the plate folded back on themselves, preferably utilizing roll forming operations. This allows bores formed in the plate before roll forming to be aligned in pairs as through holes when portions of the plate are folded over on themselves. By forming one bore of a pair larger than another, the bore pair becomes a countersunk hole. Such a shelving standard may be screwed to a stud which has a gap therein so that a line of slots in the standard is aligned with the gap. The stud also has a transverse through hole supporting a cross-member. Wall panels are provided with clips which rest on the cross-member so that wall panels may be mounted without being screwed to the stud.

    • A unitary suspension clip for suspending gypsum board panels from the horizontal support member of a vertical support structure. The plate portion of the clip has panel-piercing members projecting rearwardly to affix the plate to the panel. A transverse line of weakness extends substantially across the width of the plate such that when the panel is suspended from the support member, the load applied between the support member and the plate causes the plate to bend therealong to prevent the pulling of the panel-piercing members out of the panel. A wing is formed along the edge of the plate and extends outwardly therefrom with a second line of weakness running in the same direction as the edge of the plate between the wing and the plate. The wing is bent at the second line of weakness upwardly from the surface of the gypsum board panel and is provided with bearing surface forming an angle relative to the plate which rests on the horizontal support member and causes the panel to be drawn into engagement with the vertical support structure. The bend of the wing and the spring tension of the material comprising the clip cooperate with the bearing surface to continually cam, or draw, the gypsum board panel against the vertical support structure.

    • A suspension assembly is provided for suspending gypsum board panels from a horizontal support member. The plate portion of the suspension assembly has panel piercing tangs of a novel twisted conformation projecting rearwardly to affix the plate to the panel. A narrow neck portion of the plate forms channel means to receive the upper portion of a separate suspension clip. The lower portion of the clip is inclined outwardly to engage the horizontal support member. A plurality of transverse lines of weakness comprising slots and notch means extending substantially across the width of the neck portion of the plate are designed such that when the gypsum board panel is suspended from the support member, the load applied between the clip and the plate causes the neck portion of the plate to bend outwardly from the panel along said lines of weakness, while the upper and lower plate portions remain affixed to the panel.

    • In a demountable office partition system, batten mounts with a base and legs of a resilient hard plastic are snap fit to supporting structures by reason of inwardly directed opposed flanges on the legs. The legs of the batten mounts also have soft plastic externally directed fingers to which a batten may be press fit. Use of the batten mounts permits the batten to be removed without damage. In another embodiment, the base of the batten mounts have a first set of depending inner legs with inwardly directed flanges and a second pair of depending outer legs with outwardly directed flanges outwardly spaced from the inner legs. The batten mount is fabricated of a resilient hard plastic. Again, the batten mounts may be snap fit to a supporting structure. However, in this embodiment, a batten is snap fit to the batten mounts. The batten may be removed from the batten mount without damage due to the resilience of the outer legs.
