摘要： A method and apparatus for reducing the information error rate of a communication network. The apparatus comprises a selector device coupled to a Framer and to an Interleaver. The selector device is configured to receive system information and the Framer is configured to receive user information. The apparatus is coupled to equipment which operate the communication network based on system parameters. The apparatus and method of the present invention improve the coding and effectively increase the interleaving depth applied to user information thus reducing the information error rate of the communication network without having to alter or modify any of the system parameters.

摘要： Four stages of digital cellular architecture are presented which reuse much of the existing voice infrastructure while allowing graceful introduction of data and integrated voice/data services over industry standard, low cost platforms. First, a separate ATM-based infrastructure is introduced that supports data services. A new data call control is introduced on industry standard hardware platforms using object oriented and modular programming. Second, ATM is introduced at radio ports and call control functions are migrated to the new ATM-based call control platforms. Third, vocoders are introduced at the DCS. Fourth, the cellular functions of the legacy cellular switch are phased out and replaced by the ATM-based target architecture.

The present invention enables the maintenance of services state in only the IMS and in the multi-mode terminal, thus avoiding the creation or transfer of services state information as the multi-mode terminal moves between the PS and CS domains.

摘要： A code division multiple access system method and apparatus provides for allocation of increased bandwidth to a requesting mobile station. An access controller receives a data burst request (from either a requesting mobile station or from an external network already in connection with the mobile station) requesting a first data rate in excess of the basic data rate B allocated to a mobile station of a first cell. The access controller determines an increased data rate which is to be granted to said mobile station without causing excessive interference at said first cell and at least one adjacent cell and transmits a data burst assignment to a base station of said first cell indicating the increased data rate which has been granted to said mobile station. In another feature, the access controller processes a data burst request received from a mobile station involved in a soft handoff between multiple base stations and negotiates with those base stations for an increased data rate which may be granted to the requesting mobile station. One feature enables additional interactions to further refine the allocation process. A variety of system architectures are also described.

摘要： The method provides for a first network controller, operating according to a first radio technology, to form and send a relay message to a second network controller, operating according to a different, second radio technology. The relay message includes an embedded message for the second network controller. The embedded message may be a transition message requesting transition of a packet switched call for a mobile station handled by the first network controller to a call for the mobile station handled by the second network controller. The method further provides selection of another wireless element for service at a wireless unit, using a current wireless element. A wireless unit receives a message identifying at least one other wireless element, available to the wireless unit and to which a wireless element currently in communication with the wireless unit is also in communication with and the wireless unit selects another wireless element for possible future service based on the message.
