    • A polishing apparatus is provided for polishing an optical fiber connector. The optical fiber connector includes a connector housing and a ferrule. The polishing apparatus includes a mount to receive and hold the optical connector and a polisher housing supported by a base. The polisher housing houses a polisher that comprises a platen that supports a polishing media, the platen being coupled to a planetary gear system. The mount is disposed on a cover that encloses the polisher housing when the cover is placed in a closed position. A rotatable knob is exposed at an opening of the base, the rotatable knob being engaged with the planetary gear system to move the planetary gear system. The polishing media is disposed proximate to a fiber tip extending from an end face of the ferrule of the optical connector disposed in the mount when the cover is placed in the closed position.

    • Disclosed is an exemplary a re-enterable enclosure for a cable splice. The enclosure includes a cover and a base configured for engagement with the cover, wherein the cover and the base form a cavity for enclosing the cable splice when the base and cover are in a closed position. The enclosure also includes first and second sealing members disposed in the base and the cover. The first sealing member has first and second end portions coupled by a longitudinal member, wherein each end portion includes at least two lobes separated by a gap. The second sealing member includes a third end portion having a protrusion, wherein the protrusion on the third end portion is configured for insertion into the gap between the lobes of one of the first and second end portions of the first sealing member to form an intermating seal.

    • The invention pertains to a mechanical device useful for distributing, routing, and managing fibers, such as optical fibers. The device is particularly useful applications such as computers and telecommunication equipment. In one embodiment, the inventive device comprising conductors and a flexible substrate. The flexible substrate has (a) a central body having at least one input end where the conductors enter; (b) a plurality of primary tabs extending from the central body, each tab having at least one means for retaining the conductors; and (c) a passageway formed from folding the device along a plurality of folding slots such that a plurality of locking features mate with a plurality of interlocking slots and the primary tabs, the conductors disposed inside at least a portion of the passageway. The device manages, routes, and distributes conductors without the use of an adhesive.
