    • A method of folding and accumulating a plurality of paper sheets. The method comprises: feeding a plurality of paper sheets seriatim into a first accumulator to form a first sub-set of paper sheets; feeding a plurality of paper sheets sedatim into a second accumulator to form a second sub-set of paper sheets; feeding the second sub-set of sheets through a folding device to form a folded second sub-set of sheets; depositing the folded second sub-set of sheets onto an accumulating deck; feeding the first sub-set of sheets through the folding device to form a folded first sub-set of sheets; and depositing the folded first subset of sheets on top of the second sub-set of sheets on the accumulating deck, to thereby form a final, folded collation consisting of the two folded sub-sets.

    • An enclosure feeder system (500) and corresponding method for use in combining collations in a sequence of collations with a given number of respective corresponding specific enclosures, the enclosures for each successive collation ordinarily being separator by a divider indicator, the enclosure feeder system (500) including: an enclosure feeder (210) for feeding the enclosures, and a supervisory controller (300) for providing to the enclosure feeder (210) a dynamic over-count number, corresponding to a specific collation, equal to one more than the expected number of enclosures for the collation, with the enclosure feeder (210) implemented so as to continue feeding enclosures for a collation until either encountering a divider indicator or until the number of enclosures actually fed is equal to the expected number of enclosures for the collation.

    • A method and corresponding system for assembling collation sets from a split web consisting of two webstreams, each providing a series of collations of connected sheets. The method includes the steps of: alternately selecting the two webstreams and from the selected webstream drawing a sheet to a cutting or bursting station; cutting or bursting the sheet to separate it from the webstream; conveying the sheet to an accumulating station where sheets are accumulated; monitoring the sheet for determining whether the sheet is a beginning or an end of a collation; and ejecting the sheets accumulated from the selected webstream based on the determining of whether the sheet is the beginning or the end of a collation. In some applications, the step of determining whether the sheet is the beginning or the end of a collation is performed based on a barcode on the sheet indicating that the sheet is the last sheet in a collation, and in some other applications based on a barcode on the sheet indicating that the sheet is the first sheet in a next collation.
