    • Systems and methods for transferring a session or components of a session in a communication network are provided. The components of the session include media flows and control over the media flows. The user can initiate a transfer of a existing session with a mobile device such as user equipment (UE) to one or more devices that may lead to fan-out or fan-in to multiple devices. This can include separating the delivery of media from the control of the delivery. For example, a UE can be designated a controller to control another UE, such as a television (TV). In providing the capability to transfer these sessions, a gateway is used to implement network functions that allow the streaming to be controlled and delivered to the respective UEs. In some embodiments, the gateway can be flexible and its operation modified according to messages it receives.

    • A method and system are provided for reducing the number of wireless transactions between an application server and mobile subscribers in a wireless communications system. The communications system includes a plurality of wireless mobile subscribers communicating with network devices via the application server. Each of the mobile subscribers includes a lightweight client, and the application server includes an alias for each mobile subscriber. For each session between a mobile subscriber and a network device: the application server receives a communication from the network device intended to be processed at a client residing on the mobile subscriber in accordance with a given protocol. The system distributes the processing of the communication between the lightweight client on the mobile subscriber and the alias for the mobile subscriber on the application server to reduce the processing performed by the lightweight client and the number of wireless transactions between the mobile subscriber and the application server.

    • Advanced communications features are provided in a mobile communications network having at least one mobile switching center and at least one mobile station subsystem. The mobile switching center and mobile station subsystem each communicate signaling messages according to a mobile signaling protocol. An indication is received that a half-duplex mobile communications session is to be initiated between a first mobile station subsystem and a second mobile station subsystem. The first and second mobile station subsystems include full-duplex communications apparatus for use in full-duplex mobile communications sessions. The half-duplex mobile communications session relies on the first and second mobile station subsystems, and all of the reliance is only on the full-duplex communications apparatus. Mobile communications telephone calls are established with the first mobile station subsystem and the second mobile station subsystem. One of the first and second mobile station subsystems is selected as a voice signal source in the half-duplex communications session.
