    • A dumbbell with a selectable number of weight disks includes a handle with pins projectable in opposing directions, a base assembly for accommodating two sets of weight disks standing upright, and having through-going openings. Neighbouring weight disks have mutually cooperating connecting arrangements which axially interconnect the weight disks but which permit radial separation. The projection lengths of the pins are stepwise selectable in order thereby to permit selection of the number of weight disks carried on the handle. The handle has, in opposing ends, connecting arrangements for interconnecting with the connecting arrangements of the innermost weight disks in the base assembly. Further, the space between the connecting arrangements of the handle is free through 360° about the handle throughout its entire length, the openings of the weight disks being centrally located.

    • A dumbbell has an optional number of weight discs which stand on end in a stand, and a handle with anchorages. The anchorages and the weight discs have connecting structures which, in the axial direction, interconnect the anchorages with a neighboring weigh disc or neighboring weight discs, respectively. On the other hand, the connecting structures permit movement transversely of the axial direction. The weight discs display locking structures, which, in the activated state in directions transversely of the axial direction, prevent mutual movements between the weight discs and the anchorages. The locking structures have locking bodies which are movable so that their directions of movement have an axial component and which are disposed at the peripheral regions of the weight discs, and also are insertable in corresponding recesses in a neighboring weight disc or an anchorage. The locking bodies are operable by an operating arrangement located inside the peripheral contour of the weight discs.

    • An apparatus for applying an optional number of weight disks on a dumbbell includes a base unit, a first and second set of separate weight disks and a handle. The base unit has a first and second group of retainers which support the first and second set of weight disks. On the handle, a selectable number of weight disks are disposed from the first and second set of weight disks. The weight disks have openings which are closed towards the peripheries of the weight disks. The handle has pin devices which are axially projectable in opposing directions for insertion in the openings of the weight disks. The projection of the pin devices out of the handle is selectable for adaptation of the length of the pin device to the number of weight disks that are to be secured on the handle. The pin devices are further lockable with locks, in selected projectional positions in relation to the handle, and have, on their free ends, locks for fixedly retaining the selected number of weight disks.

The projection lengths of the pins are stepwise selectable by an indexing device in order thereby to permit selection of the number of weight disks supported on the handle. Neighboring weight disks and the handle have mutually engaging connecting arrangements which axially interconnect the weight disks and the handle but which permit radial separation. In order to prevent the set projection lengths of the pins from being unintentionally altered, when a dumbbell lifted up out of the base assembly is used, the handle has a locking arrangement which locks the pins in the set projection positions.
