    • Included in a wireless communication network having a plurality of base stations capable of communicating with a plurality of mobile stations located in a coverage area of the network is a redundancy controller. The redundancy controller is capable of detecting a failure in one of the base stations. The redundancy controller is also capable of causing one of the other base stations to use a predetermined amount of its total communication capacity to communicate with mobile stations in a coverage area of the failed base station. The redundancy controller may select all base stations having coverage areas nearby to that of the failed base station and cause all those base stations to use an amount of their total communication capacity to communicate with mobile stations in the coverage area of the failed base station.

    • A storage apparatus and method for storing a plurality of items is disclosed. The storage apparatus is configured to receive a first access request and a second access request for accessing respective items in a same clock cycle. The storage apparatus comprises: two stores each for storing a subset of the plurality of items, the first access request being routed to a first store and said second access request to a second store; miss detecting circuitry for detecting a miss where a requested item is not stored in the accessed store; item retrieving circuitry for retrieving an item whose access generated a miss from a further store; updating circuitry for selecting an item to overwrite in a respective one of the two stores in dependence upon an access history of the respective store, the updating circuitry being responsive to the miss detecting circuitry detecting the miss in an access to the first store and to at least one further condition to update both of the two stores with the item retrieved from the further store by overwriting the selected items.

    • A nasogastric tube insertion system comprises a nasogastric tube, a guide element, and an inserter element. The inserter element has a slim, elongate main body, a handle attached to the body, and an anatomically curved insertion section. The guide element comprises a swallowable weight attached to a cord, string, monofilament line, tube, or other similar line. The swallowable weight may be ablative in the presence of stomach fluids or may be deflated to allow the guide element to be removed while the nasogastric tube remains in place. The inserter element is inserted through the patient's nasal passages and optionally into the oropharynx. The weight is released and the patient swallows it into the stomach. The guide element is threaded through the guide element retaining structure, and the nasogastric tube is safely inserted along the guide element into the patient's stomach. Chemical property indicators sensitive to fluids found in the stomach may be provided in the nasogastric tube or the guide element to verify correct placement of the nasogastric tube in the stomach.
