    • The method is used in a switching network over which data packets are transferred and which includes a plurality of switching nodes with switching node terminations (SNT) and associates in each one of the switching node terminations (SNT) internal header information (IHI) included in an internal data packet received by the switching node termination and identifying an internal connection within the switching node and ending in the switching node termination, to external header information (EHI) included in an external data packet and identifying an outgoing external connection external to the switching node and originating from the switching node termination. The internal header information (IHI) includes a connection reference number (CRN) and a transfer type is associated to the internal connection. The method comprises three steps: a. determining the transfer type; b. associating to the connection reference number (CRN) and based on the transfer type a transfer type independent connection reference number (TTI-CRN) which is locally allocated by the switching node termination (SNT); and c. associating to the transfer type independent connection reference number (TTI-CRN) the external header information (EHI).

    • Networks for exchanging packet signals between first network-units (1) like access providers and/or access multiplexers coupled to terminals and second network-units (2) like service providers and/or gateways coupled to further networks can be improved by providing a network with a pooled connection (3) having a capacity smaller than a sum of all terminal-capacities, which sum equals the capacity necessary in case all terminals communicate via the network at the same time. This pooled connection (3) is located between said first (1) and second (2) network-unit and is managed by a manager (23) in said second network-unit (2). By providing a first network-unit (1) with a router (12) managed by a manager (13), control traffic can be routed transparently to said second network-unit (2). By providing a manager (23) in the second network-unit (2) with a controller (28), the capacity of said pooled connection (3) can be controlled and guarded.

    • An emergency braking warning device includes a printed circuit (1) whereon are implanted a voltage regulator/stabiliser assembly (3), a two-way digital inertia sensor (5), a microprocessor (6) and power control elements (10, 11). The voltage regulator/stabiliser assembly (3) is connected to the vehicle battery and powers the two-way digital inertia sensor (5) and the microprocessor (6). The microprocessor (6) is adapted to manage data coming from the digital sensor (5) and it is connected to the power control elements (10, 11) interposed on the circuits of the right (8) and left (9) flashers, to enable the triggering of the flashers (8, 9) when the programmed braking threshold is exceeded.

    • The present invention relates to a scheduling unit adapted to aggregate data units from a plurality of input ports to a common output port according to a service sequence. The service sequence identifies which particular input port must be served for a particular service slot.A scheduling unit according to the present invention features optimized jitter and queue occupancy figures. This is achieved by allotting a number of service slots to each input port in proportion to its service share, next by determining for each input port a corresponding number of candidate positions uniformly spaced over the service sequence, finally by resolving any contention between the so-determined candidate positions. A service slot is assigned first and foremost to the input port which has the highest number of candidate positions considered while determining the service sequence yet not assigned to any service slot, next which gets the highest service share.
