    • A method for determining the length of the route travelled by a vehicle using a position measuring device that records positions of the vehicle and a digital road map, which is composed of road segments of known segment lengths. The method including recording positions of the vehicle on the route by means of the position measuring device, matching the recorded vehicle positions to a sequence of road segments, and determining the route length from the segment lengths of these road segments, wherein from the angle between at least two consecutive road segments and an assumed road width of the two road segments, a turn-off route of the vehicle from the one road segment into the other road segment is calculated. The calculated turn-off route is taken into consideration in the determination of the route length.

    • A method for authenticating vehicle devices that can conduct dedicated short-range communications with beacons of a road tolling system. The beacons have a system-wide key and the vehicle devices only have individual keys. A supply of pairs of individual keys and associated derivation identifiers is stored in the vehicle device, and for consecutive communications the vehicle device selects a different pair from the supply in each case and uses said pair for the respective communication. The vehicle device is triggered by an interrogation device to perform at least the part of a radio communication in which the vehicle device sends the selected derivation identifier, and the selected derivation identifier is received in the interrogation device and is compared with derivation identifiers of the supply stored in the interrogation device. The vehicle device is then authenticated in the case of consistency of the comparison.

    • The invention relates to the detection of wheel axles of a vehicle on a roadway by means of a sensor, which operates according to the light-section procedure and emits at least one fan of light from a first location along the roadway to project a line of light onto the roadway and a vehicle possibly located thereon, and records this line of light from a second location along the same side of the roadway and detects a wheel axle as soon as the recorded line of light exhibits, in its course emanating from the said side of the roadway, a shift-free change in direction differing from its course when the roadway is empty.
