    • An image processing apparatus includes a communication unit configured to transmit and receive image data; an output unit configured to output the image data received by the communication unit; a storage battery unit used as a power source to back up the image data stored in a storage unit; a detecting unit configured to detect whether power supply from a main power source is cut off; and a power-supply control unit configured to perform a control operation that supplies power to the communication unit from the storage battery unit in a cutoff state where the detecting unit detects that the power supply is cut off. The communication unit performs, in the cutoff state, an image-data communication operation that consumes less power than a communication operation in a normal state where the detecting unit detects that the power supply is not cut off.

    • A rear side of an electronic camera is provided with an LCD to display a taken image. When a user does not touch the LCD, the taken image is displayed on an entire screen of the LCD. When the user touches the LCD, a contact position is detected by a touch sensor. A display area of the taken image is determined so as to evade the contact position. Under a first display mode, the display area is determined so as to have an aspect ratio identical with that of the taken image and so as to be maximized. The taken image to be displayed is reduced in a size corresponding to the display area. Under a second display mode, the display area is determined so as to have a maximum rectangular shape. The taken image of which a region protruding from the display area is cropped is displayed.

    • According to the present invention, a self photographing is effected upon a detection of a face, which prevents a photographing of a failed image which does not include a face of a person in intending photographing a person. In particular, in generating a self portrait photograph where the photographer himself/herself is the object, even through the photographer is away from the photographing apparatus operation, a clocking and a shutter control are performed to obtain an image having the photographer in a proper position only when the photographer properly enters in its field angle. The proper entrance of an object in a field angle facilitates an automatic exposure control and automatic focusing control.
