    • A load operating means controls electricity supplied from a power source to a starter in an auxiliary system for starting an engine. An engine control means and an auxiliary electricity supply means turn the load operating means ON for supplying electricity from the power source to the starter in accordance with electricity supply from a power supply device when the engine is started. When voltage of the power supply device becomes less than a reset level, the engine control means resets electricity supply to the load operating means. When the engine control means starts the engine, the auxiliary electricity supply means supplies electricity to the load operating means at a timing simultaneously with or in advance of supplying electricity by the engine control means. When the engine control means resets the electricity supply, the auxiliary electricity supply means supplies electricity instead of the engine control means.

    • Prenotification information of releasing prohibition of an engine operation is stored in an EEPROM in an interval. The interval is after that a lock controller commands a steering lock to be operable. The interval is before that an engine controller switches an engine operation prohibiting signal to be in a prohibition releasing condition. The engine operation prohibiting signal may change from the prohibition releasing condition to the prohibition setting condition after an engine starting controller starts an engine. In this condition, the engine is stopped, or is continuously operated in accordance with the prenotifying information stored in the EEPROM.

    • A vehicle condition monitoring system for an unattended vehicle includes an initial setting storage means, an actual state detection means, a comparison means, and a reporting means. The initial setting storage means memorizes a predetermined initial setting of a vehicle, that is, a window setting, a light setting, a door lock setting and the like. The actual state detection means detects an actual state of the vehicle. The comparison means compares the initial setting and the actual state of the vehicle. The reporting means issues a report that identifies the existence of a difference between the actual state of the vehicle and the initial setting based on a result of a comparison. A portable device receives the report through a wireless communication system.

    • A controller for a power window detects a pinching situation where an obstacle is pinched or sandwiched between a frame of a window and a window glass sliding upward. External disturbances such as changes of motor terminal voltage are also detected, and effects thereof on detecting the pinching situation are eliminated. The motor rotational speed variation rates (R) are calculated based on the motor speed (V) in each measuring section divided out from a closing stroke of the power window. The variation rates (R) memorized in a previous closing stroke are used to adjust a threshold value (TH) for finding the pinching situation in a following closing stroke. The motor speed variation rate (R) is compared with the adjusted threshold value (TH′), and the pinching situation is found out when the speed variation rate (R) in a deceleration direction exceeds the adjusted threshold value (TH′). When the pinching situation is found, the motor is stopped, and then the motor is driven to lower the power window.
