    • A controlled modulus fusing-station member inclusive of a durable, tough, elastically deformable layer incorporating hollow flexible filler particles. The elastically deformable layer is preferably a single layer on a substrate, the substrate preferably a core member of a fuser roller or a pressure roller. The elastically deformable layer is made from a dry formulation inclusive of: a fluoro-thermoplastic polymer powder; microspheres in the form of unexpanded microspheres or expanded microballoons; and solid filler particles including strength-enhancing filler particles and thermal-conductivity-enhancing filler particles. The dry formulation can be thermally cured or electron-beam cured. Preferably, the dry formulation is thermally cured and further includes a curing catalyst, preferably a peroxide catalyst. Alternatively, the curing catalyst can be a bisphenol residue.

    • A reproduction apparatus having a station for fusing images to a receiver sheet with a heated fuser roller has a release agent management system that uses an anilox roller. The anilox roller is made of metal or ceramic or other material and has a number of metering cells for holding release agent material. A doctor blade wipes excess material from the anilox roller and a donor roller picks up the metered amounts of release agent and applies the release agent to the heated fuser roller. The release agent prevents offset of the image to the fuser roller and promotes the easy separation of a receiver sheet from the fuser roller.

    • An oil-free process for forming a fused toner image on a receiver comprises: forming on a receiver an image comprising toner particles that contain a non-crosslinked linear polymeric binder, a colorant, and a release agent; and contacting the receiver bearing the toner particle image with a fuser member comprising a support and a release layer overlying the support. The release layer comprises a cured fluorocarbon thermoplastic random copolymer, a particulate filler comprising zinc oxide and tin oxide and a cured aminosiloxane copolymer, the cured fluorocarbon thermoplastics random copolymer containing null(CH2CF2)xnull, null(CF2CF(CF3)ynull, and null(CF2CF2)znull subunits, wherein x is from 1 to 40 or 60 to 80 mole percent, y is from 10 to 90 mole percent, z is from 10 to 90 mole percent, and xnullynullz equals 100 mole percent. The receiver in contact with the fuser member is subjected to conditions effective in the absence of a release oil for fixing the toner particle image to the receiver.

    • A product and process for an LED printhead used in electrophotographic printing that generates an exposure clock on the printhead for the LEDs. The present invention provides a high-speed interface that transmits print data that has been modified, or corrected, using the corresponding unique printhead brightness data as the base reference source data to the printhead boards. The corrected print data is then applied to the LED drivers that expose each LED simultaneously and uniquely. A non-linear clock is applied to the LED drivers as the reference clock to create the unique LED on time circuit. An Exposure RAM stores the data as parallel 8-bit data. A LATCH code received at an ASIC converts the Exposure RAM data into a serial bit stream. The preferred embodiment employs a 60 MHz clock, however, it should be readily apparent that numerous other clocking speeds can be employed. From this a linear or non-linear clock stream is created allowing 256 unique (linear or non-linear) exposure on times to the printhead driver circuitry. This is accomplished with a non-linear clock stream which allows a unique period for each clock period which then allows each increment of exposure time to be unique.

    • A method and apparatus are disclosed for controlling image defects related to transfer of toner images in an electrostatographic machine. An engagement between an operational surface of a toner image bearing member and an operational surface of another member forming a transfer nip is adjusted using an engagement adjustment device in order to reduce or eliminate image defects relating to an overdrive or underdrive associated with the nip. A transfer nip for transferring a toner image may include two rollers supported by parallel shafts coaxial with each roller, the shafts separated by a controllable distance of separation and the engagement in the nip being controllably adjustable by an engagement adjustment device to increase or decrease the distance of separation. Alternatively, a transfer system includes a first transfer nip formed by a primary image forming member roller having a coaxial supporting first shaft and an intermediate transfer member roller having a coaxial supporting second shaft separated from the first shaft by a first controllable distance of separation, and a second transfer nip formed by the intermediate transfer roller and a transfer backup roller, which transfer backup roller has a coaxial supporting third shaft separated from the second shaft by a second controllable distance of separation, wherein the engagement in each of the first and second transfer nips is separately and controllably adjustable by an engagement adjustment device to respectively increase or decrease the distance of separation between the first and second shafts and the distance of separation between the second and third shafts. An engagement adjustment device provides a preselected amount of overdrive or underdrive between a toner image forming member and a receiver member to which a toner image is transferred, which preselected amount includes zero. An engagement adjustment device of the subject invention may be employed to control an overdrive or an underdrive in a fusing station of an electrostatographic machine.
