    • A method of manufacturing an aperture pattern printing plate in a limited number of steps using only one original printing plate. The method produces transparent portions on a portion of the printing plate corresponding to a non-effective area of a shadow mask, and opaque portions on a portion of the printing plate corresponding to an effective area of a shadow mask. The method has the steps of bringing a transparent plate having an unexposed transparent photosensitive layer formed on at least one of its principal surfaces into contact with an original plate having opaque areas corresponding to apertures in a to be constructed shadow mask. A first exposure is performed on the photosensitive layer through the original plate. The photosensitive layer is then developed to render exposed portions of the photosensitive layer opaque. These opaque portions are then etched away. A portion of the photosensitive layer corresponding to the non-effective area of a shadow mask is then covered to prevent exposure. A second exposure of the photosensitive layer is then performed; thereby achieving exposure of only the portion of the photosensitive layer corresponding to an effective area of a shadow mask. The photosensitive layer is then developed to render the exposed portions of the photosensitive layer opaque. By etching away the opaque portions produced after development of the first exposure, air passages are produced on the whole surface of the transparent plate.

    • Disclosed is a disk label printer that includes a slot-in type optical disk driving mechanism and a printing mechanism integrated with each other, has a small size, and smoothly transfers optical disks. The disclosed disk label printer includes: a case that has a slot through which an optical disk is inserted or ejected formed therein; an optical disk driving mechanism that is provided in the case and writes and/or reads signals to and/or from the optical disk mounted to a disk mounting portion; and a printing mechanism that is provided in the case and includes a thermal head which prints a desired image on a label surface of the optical disk. The printing mechanism is provided on a transfer path of the optical disk toward the optical disk driving mechanism between the slot and the optical disk driving mechanism. The thermal head and a platen roller come into pressure contact with each other with the optical disk interposed therebetween on the transfer path, only when the optical disk is transferred during the driving of the printing mechanism. The thermal head and the platen roller are withdrawn from the transfer path so as to be separated from each other, when the optical disk is transferred during operations other than the driving of the printing mechanism.

    • A liquid crystal display device contains a liquid crystal panel and a light transmission member disposed below the liquid crystal panel. A reflection sheet is disposed below the light transmission member and a light source is disposed adjacent to one end of the light transmission member. A reflector encases the light source. The periphery of the reflector has reflection walls and forms an opening continuous with the reflection walls. Light direction control walls are formed near the opening of the reflector to control the direction of the light from the light source. The light direction control walls cut off light directed in directions other than a predetermined set of directions. An inner surface of the light direction control walls is composed of reflection layers formed from a different material from the material that forms the reflection walls.
