    • An inking system of a printing press is utilized for inking a printing cylinder. The inking system is configured as a long roller inking system and includes two distributing cylinders that are disposed serially in a roller train. A first one of these distributing cylinders is mounted, in the roller train, close to the printing cylinder. The other of these distributing cylinders is mounted, again in the roller train, further away from the printing cylinder. The printing cylinder is rotationally force-driven by an angle position controlled drive motor. One of the two distributing cylinders of the inking system is rotationally force-driven by a drive motor that is mechanically independent of the drive for the printing cylinder. The other one of the two distributing cylinders is rotationally driven by frictional engagement with adjacent rollers or cylinders. It is thus configured without a mechanical drive connection to one of the drive motors other than the frictional engagement with the adjacent roller or cylinders which are intended to rotationally drive it.

    • A food and beverage dispensing system having a main dispenser for holding and dispensing a food or beverage mixture comprised of water and dry concentrate. A replenishing dispenser is connected to and stationed entirely independent of the main dispenser. The replenishing dispenser has a mixing valve for automatically and periodically blending proportioned amounts of the water and dry concentrate to form the food or beverage mixture. The mixing valve intermittently dispenses a controlled amount of the food or beverage mixture therefrom. The replenishing dispenser also has a reservoir located below the mixing valve for receiving, holding and periodically delivering a food or beverage mixture to the main dispenser in accordance with the amount of food or beverage mixture dispensed from the main dispenser.

    • System, method, and apparatus for improving the performance of collective operations in High Performance Computing (HPC). Compute nodes in a networked HPC environment form collective groups to perform collective operations. A spanning tree is formed including the compute nodes and switches and links used to interconnect the compute nodes, wherein the spanning tree is configured such that there is only a single route between any pair of nodes in the tree. The compute nodes implement processes for performing the collective operations, which includes exchanging messages between processes executing on other compute nodes, wherein the messages contain indicia identifying collective operations they belong to. Each switch is configured to implement message forwarding operations for its portion of the spanning tree. Each of the nodes in the spanning tree implements a ratcheted cyclical state machine that is used for synchronizing collective operations, along with status messages that are exchanged between nodes. Transaction IDs are also used to detect out-of-order and lost messages.
