摘要： A novel polypeptide isolated from the cornified envelope, polypeptides similar to the latter or fragments of the polypeptide as well as a cosmetic and/or pharmaceutical composition containing same are described. The mainly cosmetic and/or therapeutic use of the polypeptide, or similar polypeptides or fragments of the amino acid sequence of the polypeptide, or an encoding nucleotide sequence for the polypeptide, to reinforce the barrier function of the epidermis and prevent and/or treat the signs of skin dryness or prevent and/or treat disorders of the barrier function or the fragilisation of the epidermis. Finally, the isolated encoding polynucleotide for the polypeptide are also disclosed.

Finally, the present invention relates to a method for reducing horny layer cell cohesion, and thereby promoting exfoliation, wherein said method comprises applying to the skin a cosmetic or pharmaceutical composition comprising an effective amount of at least one protease active on the polypeptide of the present invention.
