    • A method for controlling access to a handheld device (1) by validating fingerprints includes: storing original fingerprint characteristic values of corresponding user accounts in a memory (12) of the handheld device; controlling a fingerprint scanning device (11) in the handheld device to scan a login fingerprint of a user accessing one of the user accounts, and obtaining a login fingerprint image correspondingly; processing the login fingerprint image, and obtaining a negative image of the login fingerprint image; detecting login fingerprint characteristic points in the negative image of the login fingerprint image, and computing login fingerprint characteristic values according to the login fingerprint characteristic points; determining whether the login fingerprint characteristic values match original fingerprint characteristic values of one of the user accounts in the memory; and granting access to the user account if the login fingerprint characteristic values match the original fingerprint characteristic values of the user account.

    • A direction controlling system and method of an electronic device provides a fingerprint identification device for a user to touch. The electronic device captures a fingerprint template image of a finger. When the finger moves on the fingerprint identification device, the electronic device captures a sequence of fingerprint images of the finger. Furthermore, the electronic device detects a directional movement of the fingerprint according to the sequence of fingerprint images and the fingerprint template image. A scroll bar of the electronic device is controlled to move according to the movement direction and a movement distance calculated by the electronic device.

    • A structure of lighting device includes a hood, a heat dissipater, at least one substrate board, and a fastener. The hood forms a receiving space, at least one fitting slot, and at least one heat dissipation opening. The fitting slot is located inside the receiving space. The heat dissipation opening is defined in a circumferential surface of the hood. The heat dissipater is received in the receiving space. The heat dissipater forms at least one guide section. The guide section opposes the fitting slot and is received in the fitting slot. The substrate board is electrically connected to at least one light-emitting diode. The substrate board is coupled to the heat dissipater. The heat dissipation opening allows for air circulation for removing heat generated by light-emitting diodes. Further, the heat dissipation opening is formed to have a width W less than 3 mm, and the heat dissipater is arranged to be spaced from a circumferential surface of the hood by a distance greater than 6 mm.
