    • The present invention relates to a method for operating a RF communication device, a RF communication device (400), a method for operating an authentication server of a network entity and to corresponding computer programs. All aspects of the present invention take into account that a continuous operation of a RF communication device, in particular of a metering application, needs to be ensured, even if the function of a component SIM or initial SIM (410) has to be replaced or supplemented by an external new SIM (420). It is suggested to ascertain the validity of the external SIM by using information stored in the component/initial SIM. The validity of the external SIM can be ascertaining either solely on the side of the RF communication device or by sending a corresponding validity check request signal to a remote network entity.

    • In a radio communication system, a common channel is provided which is allocated to a plurality of subscribers at the same time for data transmission between a base station and a subscriber station. Measurements regarding the transmission quality are carried out on the common channel and their results are available in the base station. If the transmission quality does not meet a defined criterion, the base station transmits a first message to a controlling radio network controller associated therewith, the first message containing information about the transmission quality and about subscriber stations for which a bad transmission quality was measured. The controlling radio network controller sends a second message which informs serving radio network controllers, associated with the subscriber stations having bad transmission quality and responsible for the configuration of the subscriber stations, about the bad transmission quality.

    • To distinguish between stationary and free-to-move terminal devices in a mobile communication network in order to reduce paging interference, a stationary terminal device chooses a surrounding radio cell as a home cell, which remains associated to the stationary terminal device, as long as the home cell fulfills a suitable-cell-requirement. Therefore, the communication network can be operated such that a paging request is only distributed through one base station/NodeB, if that paging request is to be forwarded to a stationary terminal device being associated to a home cell. According to another aspect of the present invention, stationary terminal devices are grouped in separate paging group that is stored in an operation unit of the mobile communication network. If a paging request is to be distributed, it is firstly checked, whether the paging request is to be forwarded to one of the terminal devices of the separate paging group.
