摘要： A method for accurate, on site heat flow measurement through a substrate surface using surface mounted heat flow sensors and an apparatus for on site calibration of surface mounted heat flow sensors are presented. The method comprises mounting on the substrate surface a heat flow sensor which is calibrated to establish the relationship between heat flow through the surface and the resultant induced voltage in the sensor under the convective and radiative heat transfer environmental conditions of the surface, measuring the voltage output induced in the sensor by heat flow through the surface, and converting the voltage output to a quantitative heat flow on the basis of the calibration of the sensor. The apparatus of the invention permits the calibration of the sensors under convective and radiative heat transfer environmental conditions which substantially duplicate those of the experimental substrate.

摘要： Low density cementitious compositions are disclosed which are essentially the hydrated products from mixtures of inorganic hydratable binders such as gypsum and Portland cement with a novel lightweight aggregate material comprised of partially combusted bark particles obtained from bark-burning boiler furnaces of pulp processing concerns. Preferred compositions additionally incorporate conventional additives such as surfactants, fibrous materials, foam stabilizers and conventional lightweight aggregate such as expanded vermiculite to give products useful as lightweight thermal insulation concretes and fireproofings.

摘要： Fire and heat resistant metal structural members and a method of fabricating same are provided. The structural members of the invention comprise a metal substrate element, a discontinuous tie coat layer comprising an inorganic binder adhered to a surface of the structural element, and a continuous layer of a hydraulic cement-based fireproofing composition adhered to the tie coat layer and the exposed areas of the metal substrate. The discontinuous tie coat layer of the inventive structural members can substantially diminish or prevent the delamination of the fireproofing layer from the metal substrate under ambient temperature and high heat conditions.

摘要： Fireproofing compositions for steel structural members are provided. The compositions comprise a hydratable cementitious binder, shredded polystyrene aggregate, an air entraining agent, and a fibrous material. On addition of water, the compositions form settable, sprayable slurries which can be pumped to the point of application. The slurries are capable of spray application to steel structural members and adhere to the member in the slurried state and after setting. Excellent fire and heat protection is provided to the member despite the organic nature of the polystyrene aggregate.

摘要： The use of a relatively tin vermiculite coating layer, preferably spray-applied as an aqueous dispersion of delaminated vermiculite platelets, over a (primary) spray-applied hydratable cementitious fireproofing coating, has been found surprisingly to provide fireproofing protection that equals or exceeds that provided by fireproofing used alone. Accordingly, the time, effort, and costs normally incurred by the need to achieve thick coating layers in conventional fireproofing are considerably decreased.
