摘要： A backlight assembly includes a container, a plurality of lamps and a lamp-fixing member. The container includes a bottom face and side faces extending therefrom that define a receiving space. The lamps are arranged in parallel with each other in the container. The lamp-fixing member includes a support body installed in the container and arranged in a direction intersecting a lengthwise direction of extension of each of the lamps, a lamp-fixing portion protruding from the support body and covering a respective lamp, and a boss protruding from an inner face of the lamp-fixing portion and extending toward a center of the respective lamp to fix the respective lamp with a corresponding lamp-fixing portion via a point or line contact. Thus, a local decrease in temperature of the lamp covered by the lamp-fixing portion may be prevented to improve image display quality by preventing or eliminating dark spots.

The receiving container includes a bottom portion and a side portion to provide a receiving space. The first mold is disposed at an end portion of the receiving container. The voltage applying part slides into the first mold to become fixably attached to the first mold. The voltage applying part includes conductive material. The lamps are combined with the voltage applying part parallel to each other. The lamps generate light when a driving voltage is applied to the lamps through the voltage applying part. A liquid crystal display apparatus includes the backlight assembly, a liquid crystal display panel displaying images using light generated from the backlight assembly, and a top chassis fixing the liquid crystal display panel to the backlight assembly.

摘要： A method of forming a backlight assembly is presented. The invention reduces the degradation of display quality caused by an uneven expansion of the reflective sheet in a display device. the reflective sheet may be positioned between the light guiding plate and the base in a backlight assembly of a display device. The backlight assembly includes a light source, a light guiding plate positioned to guide light from the light source in a predetermined direction, a base on which the light guiding plate is mounted, and a reflective sheet positioned between the light guiding plate and the base. The reflective sheet has a cutout. A supporting structure extends through the cutout between the light guiding plate and the base to support the light guiding plate. A liquid crystal display device made with such backlight assembly is also presented.
