    • Information signals recorded in a signal recording area of a magnetic disk 100 are reproduced for each sector unit by a magnetic head 3, and are taken out through an equalizer 8, an ECC circuit 9 and a buffer 10. A control circuit 12 obtains an estimate value indicating the difficulty of reproduction with respect to operation for reproducing the information signals from the magnetic disk 100, and accumulates the estimate value obtained until the information signals can be correctly reproduced. When the accumulated estimate value has become a predetermined value or greater, the control circuit 12 carried out control to record the information recorded in the corresponding sector into another sector. Thus, generation of such a state that the information signals cannot be reproduced in the future can be prevented.

    • In a VTR having a rotary transducer for scanning parallel tracks on a record medium in which signal information is recorded and being displaced at a skew angle with respect to the direction of travel of the record medium, an electromechanical adjustable transducer support, preferably of a piezo-ceramic material supports the transducer for displacement transversely with respect to the parallel tracks in response to a drive signal, and an open loop servo circuit is provided for generating the drive signal to align the scanning path of the transducer with one of the parallel tracks. The open loop servo system includes a first detecting device for detecting the position of the beginning of one of the parallel tracks, a second detecting device for detecting the rotational position of the rotary transducer, a device for generating an output speed signal corresponding to the speed of the record medium, and a signal processing device receiving the outputs of the first and second detecting devices and the speed signal generating device for generating a first component signal which corresponds to the deviation between the beginning of the transducer scanning path and a recorded track and is a function of the relative speed between the rotary transducer and the record medium. The open loop servo system further includes a sawtooth waveform generating device responsive to an output from the second detecting device, and an amplitude adjusting device supplied with the output of the sawtooth waveform generating device and being responsive to the output of the speed signal generating device for generating a second component signal, with the first and second component signals being added for producing the drive signal by which the transducer is transversely displaced with respect to a parallel record track.

    • When recording and/or reproducing data on a disk formatted in a constant linear velocity (CLV) system while the disk is rotated and a head is movable for scanning radially successive circular tracks thereon, and a recording and/or reproducing circuit is operable in response to a data transfer clock for causing the head to record and/or reproduce data in the tracks scanned thereby: the disk is virtually divided into a plurality of virtual zones each comprised of a respective plurality of the tracks; the frequency of the data transfer clock is determined in dependence on the one of the virtual zones in which the tracks being scanned are situated at least during the initiation of a recording or reproducing operation, with the frequency determined at the initiation of a recording or reproducing operation being increased step wise for each successive zone considered in the radially outward direction and being maintained substantially constant at least so long as the tracks being scanned are in the one of the zones at which the recording or reproducing operation was initiated; and the angular velocity at which the disk is rotated during the recording or reproducing of data in the tracks within any one of the virtual zones is decreased as successive tracks, considered in the radially outward direction, are scanned during the recording or reproducing operation in which the frequency of the data transfer clock is maintained substantially constant.

    • A disk device for performing error-correction processing is loaded with a high-reliability disk to which a C1 code as a low-level error-correction code (ECC) is added for every sector, and a C2 code as a high-level ECC is added for every plurality of sectors. A host computer includes a device driver corresponding to the high-reliability disk. When data written to the high-reliability disk is read, low-level error-correction is performed based on the C1 code in units of one block corresponding to one sector, and the corrected data is notified to the host computer. Simultaneously, the C2 code along with the data for a plurality of blocks is loaded, and high-level error correction based on the C2 code is thereby performed.
