    • A digital servo control system is responsive to a command signal indicative of a command position of a moveable element and to a phase modulated signal corresponding to the angle of rotation of a motor controlling said moveable element to develop a motor drive signal to position the motor. The system provides control during a velocity control mode and a position control mode, the latter occurring after the moveable element is moved to a predetermined small incremental distance from the commanded position. During the velocity control mode the motor is driven in accordance with a reference velocity selected in dependence upon the position error signal. Following a prescribed time after entry into the position control mode, the position error has added thereto an integration signal which increases in the same sense as the position error.

    • A process for selectively annealing metal strips, which comprises forming a deposit in the form of a continuous or intermittent stripe or stripes of graphite powder at least 50% of which is 20 .mu.m or less in particle diameter, on one side or both sides of a metal strip, and then heating the deposit by laser or a high-luminance light source to form a selectively annealed portion or portions. The graphite powder is one graphitized at a temperature of 3000.degree. C. or above. The deposit is 500 .mu.m or less in thickness. The graphite powder has a true density of 2.1 g/cm.sup.3 or above. It has an average interplanar spacing between planes of the carbon hexagon of 3.60 .ANG. or below. Its microcrystal grain diameter is 500 .ANG. or more. In another aspect of the invention, a process for selectively annealing metal strips is provided which is characterized by the steps of forming a continuous or intermittent stripe or stripes of a deposit of graphite powder on one side or both sides of a metal strip having a mirror reflectivity of at least 20% on the surface, and then heating the deposit by a high-luminance light source to form a selectively annealed portion or portions. Here again, it is desirable to use a graphite powder having characteristics as described above.

    • A nonmagnetic stainless steel for high burring has the absolute value of the plane anisotropy .DELTA.r of the Lankford value r of 0.12 or under, the .DELTA.r being .DELTA.r=(r.sub.0 +r.sub.90 -2r.sub.45)/2 wherein r.sub.0. r.sub.45, and r.sub.90 are the r-values at angles of 0.degree., 45.degree., and 90.degree., respectively, to the direction of rolling to which the steel is subjected. The nonmagnetic stainless steel is useful for electron tube parts, especially for the electrodes of electron guns for color picture tubes and is made by the steps of adjusting the grain size of a nonmagnetic stainless steel before final rolling to the range from 4.0 to 7.0 in the austenite grain size conforming to JIS G0551, finishing the work to a desired thickness by final cold rolling to a cold reduction of 20 to 50%, and finally annealing the same to an austenite grain size according to JIS G0551 ranging from 7.0 to 12.0.
