    • A rotary unit with a built-in clutch which is short in its axial length. The rotary unit has an inner member having an outer periphery formed with a raceway groove and a pair of cylindrical surfaces on both sides of the raceway groove, and a cylindrical outer member having an inner periphery formed with a raceway groove and a pair of cylindrical surfaces on both sides of the groove. A retainer mounted between the inner and outer members has a plurality of circumferentially spaced pockets each housing a rolling member and sprag housing recesses provided alternately with the pockets. In each recess is received a sprag having both ends thereof resting on the opposing cylindrical surfaces and biased by a resilient member so that its inner and outer arcuate surfaces contact the cylindrical surfaces. By arranging the sprags and the rolling members alternately with each other in the circumferential direction, it is possible to reduce the entire axial length of the rotary unit.

    • In an image processing method, extraction points are set inside the draw line as the region with less luminance change relative to the periphery, and extraction points are set on the background outside the draw line in a sample image such as a letter and a number. Pixel data of the extraction points are used to obtain the normalization correlation coefficient with respect to the target image in the determination region. As the template data are generated using pixel data of two groups of the extraction points with clear contrast in the luminance difference therebetween, the true image to be determined as being the same as the template image is detected accurately through the calculation for a short period of time.

    • A torque limiter having an outer ring with a plurality of cam surfaces and spring supporting surfaces formed on an inner peripheral surface, an inner member mounted in the outer ring, and a plurality of rollers mounted between the cam surfaces and the inner member. Springs supported on the spring supporting surfaces bias the rollers in a direction to bite into the cam surfaces and the inner member. The springs have a predetermined spring force which is sufficient to maintain the rollers in wedging engagement between the cam surfaces and the inner member when a turning torque for turning the inner member in a direction to urge the rollers out of the wedging engagement is applied to the inner member, but only until the applied torque reaches a predetermined value.
