    • An optical pickup apparatus includes: a first light source; a second light source; a third light source; an objective lens; a coupling lens; a light flux splitter; and a light-receiving element. The coupling lens is formed of two or more lenses in two or more groups, and at least one group of the lenses forming the coupling lens is arranged movably along an optical axis of the coupling lens. The each of the first to third light source and a light-receiving portion in the light-receiving element is optically conjugate each other through an information recording surface of the information recording medium when at least one group of the lenses in the coupling lens is positioned at the predefined position.

    • An optical pickup apparatus detects optical information by making a laser beam in a 405 nm wavelength band emitted from a semiconductor laser light source incident on an optical information recording medium and then making the laser beam reflected from the optical information recording medium incident on a photodetector. The optical pickup apparatus has a polarizing beam splitter including a polarizing beam splitting film that forms an optical path from the semiconductor laser light source to the optical information recording medium by reflecting the s-polarized component of the laser beam and that forms an optical path from the optical information recording medium to the photodetector by transmitting the p-polarized component of the laser beam; and a monitoring sensor that receives the laser beam to monitor the laser output intensity of the semiconductor laser light source. The polarizing beam splitter transmits part of the s-polarized component, and the monitoring sensor receives this part of the s-polarized component in a position where the center line of the effective light beam received by the monitoring sensor does not coincide with the principal ray of that part of the s-polarized component.

    • Disclosed is an optical pickup device for use in an optical disk unit, which comprises a moving optical system and a fixed optical system. The moving optical system has a focussing lens confronting a disk-shaped information-recording medium and moves linearly in the radial direction of the information-recording medium. On the fixed optical system are disposed a beam-deflecting lens as tracking means and a relay lens for conjugating the position of the principal point of this beam-deflecting lens with the position of the focal point on the beam-incident side of the object lens when the moving optical system is present at an intermediate position within the moving range of the moving optical system. In the optical pickup device having this structure, track offset can be diminished over the entire reproduction region, and since no tracking means is disposed in the moving optical system, high-speed excess can be easily performed.
