    • The invention relates to a method and to a corresponding device for detecting spectral reflectance, an illuminating device arranged in a stationary fashion being used to apply to measuring fields moving relative to the measuring system radiation which differs in strength as a function of the relative speed, and the radiation reflected by the measuring fields being further processed after photoelectric conversion to derive measured variables. It is the object of the present invention to develop such a method as well as a corresponding device so that the optical reflectance-measuring system can be optimally adapted to different relative speeds given a prescribed measuring field size. This is achieved according to the invention, by controlling the light source of the illuminating device as a function of the relative speed between the measuring field and measuring system so that the spectral intensity distribution of the light source of the illuminating device is detected for the respective relative speed between the measuring fields and measuring system, and by taking into account the respectively present spectral intensity distribution of the light source of the illuminating device in processing the radiation reflected by the measuring fields to obtain measured values.

    • A measuring system for registering reflectances on printed products, the measuring system having at least one illumination channel for producing a scanning spot at a point on a measurement field on the printed material. The system includes scanning channels for registering the reflectances of the spot from the printed material. The measuring system moves relative to the printed material. Measuring devices supplying ink density and spectral, preferably colorimetric, measured values are combined with one another without additional outlay in terms of construction. The combination of the measuring principles (density and color) are optimally adapted to the task of a measuring strips on the printed material scanned in the longitudinal direction. The measuring system has a densitometer that produces a scanning spot on the printed material, and a spectrophotometer that produces a further scanning spot on the printed material. The densitometer and the spectrophotometer are arranged one behind the other in the measuring head. The scanning spot of the densitometer and the scanning spot of the spectrophotometer are spaced apart from each other by a distance determined by the speed of the measuring system in the scanning direction and by the computational speed of the evaluation electronics, which are connected downstream of the densitometer and the spectrophotometer. The measured values from the densitometer may trigger the measurements and/or evaluations of the measured values obtained by the spectrophotometer.

    • A method is described of determining stipulated values for the production of multicolor printed copies, in particular for the production of multicolor printed copies on a printing machine working in half-tone, a reflectance desired value being assigned in the case of an original, in at least one image element having given area coverage of the individual colors to be used in the print, and this at least one reflectance desired value being used during the subsequent printing, in conjunction with a reflectance actual value, in particular for the derivation of adjustment commands for the ink feed so that the subsequently produced print satisfies the best possible color and in particular calorimetric agreement with stipulated values specified during the creation of a printed original. According to the invention, this is achieved by the image elements of the original being assigned desired color loci in each case, and from the spectra or color density spectra of the individual colors used in the subsequent print, as well as their proportion of printing area in the respective image elements, a spectrum of color density spectrum, given calorimetric assessment, yields the best possible approximation to the stipulated desired color locus.

    • A method and apparatus is disclosed for setting a distribution of image points on a printing surface having a coating of thermally activated material. For each image point to be set and used as part of an image, a laser heats the image point for a predetermined time period to a limiting or process temperature. The image points are preheated to an intermediate temperature below the limiting or process temperature and above an ambient temperature in order to reduce the energy required to raise the temperature of the thermally activated material at an image point to be set. In one embodiment of the invention, the entire printing surface is preheated to the intermediate temperature. In an alternative embodiment of the invention, only a region of the printing surface is preheated. In this alternative embodiment, the region moves with a writing head that sets the image points. In this regard, the rate of travel of the image head across the printing surface is such that a temporal stationary temperature is reached at the intermediate temperature prior to raising the temperature to the limiting or process temperature.
