    • A multi-spectral stereoscopic display system with additive and subtractive techniques is disclosed. Stereographic images may be presented and viewed via two sets of spectral bands that may have low or no overlap with each other. The color balances of a left-eye image and a right-eye image may be almost matching or identical. The left-eye image and the right-eye image may each be a full-color image with neutral color balance, even without modifying the color balance of original image content. Additive and subtractive techniques may provide spectral content within these sets of spectral bands. Subtractive techniques may include spectral filters. Additive techniques may include multi-spectral illuminants. An arrangement of a set of spectral bands may correspond to natural resonant characteristics. The spectral bands may be determined independently of conventional RGB designation of spectral bands. This system may operate independently of polarization techniques and electronic processes for color balance modifications.

    • An anamorphic imaging system is disclosed which maximizes the use of available image area to minimize display magnification and image degradation due to display magnification, reduces the amount of anamorphic squeeze during photography to lower image degradation due to anamorphosis, and in film applications, utilizes a film frame that is only three perforations in height to reduce the amount of original film needed. The frame for either film or digital applications has an aspect ratio of approximately 16:9, is contained within the total available frame area of a three-perforation frame or digital imager, and is sized to maximize image area. In preferred embodiments, the image capture area is approximately 0.900 inches wide by approximately 0.506 inches tall.

    • A film transport mechanism for transporting film having perforations including a motor that drives sprockets for transporting the film in increments defined by a pull down stroke. In addition, the mechanism includes a pin element having at least one pin, the pin element being rotatable to a first position wherein the pin is inserted into an associated perforation to stabilize the film without contacting a perforation edge to generate a first sound level when the pull down stroke substantially equals a perforation pitch. Further, when the pitch is not equal to the pull down stroke, the pin contacts a perforation edge to generate a second sound level. The mechanism also includes a microphone positioned adjacent the pin element and the film for detecting a range of sound levels. An acoustic analyzing circuit is provided for comparing a sound level detected by the microphone to an acoustic signature indicative of contact between the pin and a perforation edge wherein when the detected sound level substantially matches the acoustic signature, the circuit controls the drive means to adjust the pull down stroke until the first sound level is detected wherein the pull down stroke is substantially equal to the pitch and thus the pin is inserted into a perforation without contacting a perforation edge.
